Gross that they have a public facing employee maskless inside a food serving establishment during a pandemic when there is still a mask mandate everywhere. sorry is that clear “sheild” over a employees face not covering a mouth or nose a mask. Not cool. Too bad because the food is good but if this is their attitude about spreading pathogens what else is lax?
Grew up across the street from them. Opened when i was a kid, was my bus stop, my daily shop for quick meals, drinks, and of course delicatessens. 10+ years later I still compare every linked meat i try to this place. I hope it never closes as the ladies, and the business as a whole have been one of the fondest memories in the East End. Will continue to come back year after year when i'm in Thunder Bay to visit family.
Always loved coming here, stop by for a quick lunch when I forgot to pack on or just to get some sausage rings. Also they have delicious pickles, always pleasant people.

This store has some basic items for local residents however the smoked meats are done in house and if you like to make homemeade soup this is a must place to visit. They have a black-pepper crusted smoked bacon you can have cut as thick or thin as you desire. The staff are friendly and accomodating.
I highly recommend The Commissary. It's not just a corner store for East-Enders. It's a destination for quality smoked meats and deli items, The staff are friendly and helpful. I suggest trying their signature pepperettes, for the deli aficionado it's worth the trip over the bridge. :
