Good ambience, friendly servers. They have wine flights pre selected that included two red and one white. I highly recommend trying one of their wine flights. Their mussel + fried dish was just right, but their squid ink pasta was a bit garlicky. Overall, great place for a date / group gathering.
One of our faves! It's been tough on the restaurant industry overall but these guys have made it work. The new patio is amazing and the food and wine list is one of the overall best in town! There are flights of wine and a small, focused food menu. I love the steak frites with the compound butter! They often do wine events and tastings during non covid times that we always enjoy as well. Overall highly recommend - you can't go wrong here for a date night out. Edit summer 2022: as great as ever!! Incredible ambiance, service and food! Continue to highly recommend!
Happy Hour after work is a great way to unwind after a busy day! Our server, soon to be sommelier, was lovely and thoroughly enjoys sharing her thoughts and knowledge— very happy with her choice of wine for our flight.
Delightful time! Food was delicious especially the watermelon cucumber salad, like summer on a plate! Our server Mary was lovely and attentive. Overall excellent experience and definitely plan to return.
Took my husband here for birthday dinner and was not disappointed. The ambience and food was really really good. If you’re looking for a nice date night spot, I would 100% recommend this. We had the watermelon salad, mussels, and a charcuterie board. It was really lovely. I’ve seen a few comments here about slow service, etc. and my response to that is: this is not a brown’s social house. This is an independent business who has likely been hit hard. Also, servers are super overworked right now, and I think everyone is trying their absolute best. Was totally pleased with our service and while the food did take some time, it wasn’t out of line and was more than worth the wait. The service we received was friendly and helpful.
It was a fantastic experience. The place is small and cozy, yet classy. Food is 10 out of 5 i mean it!. Highly recommend their grilled zucchini. For the quality of food, I seriously think it is underadvertised. There was a delay with my order, and although we didn't make a fuss out of it, everyone went above and beyond to make it up for us. You don't always get that kind of service in fine dining places. So happy we found that gem! Definitely gonna be back next time we are in Victoria.
We had the most lovely evening at this restaurant. We were celebrating a birthday and an anniversary at the same time and all of the staff we came in contact with congratulated us and wished us well as we were celebrating which was very impressive. We ordered the BC wine flight and the Rose flight and really enjoyed the different tastes we experienced. We ordered the charcuterie board which was very fun to play around with the different tastes. We also ordered the orange creamsicle sorbet which was AMAZING. The server we had was also amazing I’m sorry I don’t remember her name and super informative about the menu items. One of our favourite date spots and will definitely become an annual visit.
First time dining here. Service was lovely. Ordered a wine flight and the scallops. Scallops were cooked well but orzo left much to be desired. Dish tasted mostly of pepper; nothing special. Not a significant enough portion for 37$. Wine was fine but first white was warm. Left to get more food afterwards.
Very disappointing experience. I will say that our server was lovely, and did a good job, and the ambience is nice. . Appetizer flatbread was fine, though nothing exceptional. The “9 ounce” glass of wine was definitely not 9 ounces - I’d be surprised if it was even a full 5 ounces. I asked the server about it before ordering a second glass, but got the same small glass again - probably should have asked her to send the bartender over with a 1 ounce measure, but I didn’t feel like scrapping about it. The scallop risotto was terrible - honestly I’ve had better risotto from a grocery store package It was undercooked, and largely tasteless, though the 4 small scallops were well cooked. We definitely won’t be going back again - far too high a price point for such mediocre food.
This review is for their 2022 NYE dinner event. I’m sure as a restaurant they do a fine job as the food and service were both solid but overall I don’t believe this restaurant should win your business until they address the incredible sham of an event they hosted and had the gall to charge over $100 per person for. This event was a disaster of an experience and I’d never recommend it to anyone. It was a fixed seating time and meal, which meant the restaurant filled completely but they tried to run it like any other night where guests are staggered, only, we weren’t. Our first drinks took about an hour to arrive why they were making individual cocktails for a full seating I have no idea. The Dinner took over 3 hours, which is fine if you start at 5:00 but starting at 8:00, it’s a different story. All but the main course were small, sometimes comically so, like 3 hair thin slices of smoked carrots they probably didn’t use a single whole carrot for the entire restaurant, a bread plate with two small crostini and a single spoonful of chopped tomato’s, a side plate with some, essentially, undressed mixed greeens… and we weren’t served a main course with any substantial food until after 11:00PM! They also ran out of dessert instantly because people were still starving and they let in another batch of guests who were also promised dessert and helped themselves. The food itself was actually good for the most part but there were no snacks provided, no welcome drinks, and we were forced to sit there uncomfortably hungry for hours. The waiters did their best to manage the situation that was clearly out of their control and were very kind, no complaints about the service. Charging people $100 per person for what was essentially a single main dish and for extremely small snacks over the course of three hours was honestly a complete sham. This could have been a wonderful experience, and a great way to ring in the new year, however, it was a horrible but completely predictable disaster given tickets were sold in advance, and they had plenty of time to prepare. I know the food and beverage industry is difficult and competitive, and I genuinely don’t want to leave such a negative review, but after what happened I can’t help feeling completely taken advantage of by this restaurant. I hope they are held accountable for this and discourage anyone from visiting this business until they make things right with the guests who were in attendance that night.
