Story

The Cherry Hut was established as a roadside pie stand in 1922. The Kraker family used it as a means to distribute homemade cherry pies made from fresh cherries out of their orchard. Later, in 1937, the Cherry Hut moved to its present day location on US 31 in Beulah, MI. Throughout its long history the Cherry Hut has always been known for its homemade pies and jams. Owned by the Case Family since 1959 The Cherry Hut continues to supply smiling faces by serving food and shipping cherries year round as the Original Northern Michigan Cherry Shipper. My husband, son, and I ate here after a late afternoon swim at Sleeping Bear. Found this on Google maps, read the reviews, and took a chance. So glad we did! The hostess, Kay, was AMAZING (my son wanted me to make sure that we mentioned her by name). Our waitress, Alexis, was great, too. The complete dinner is a great deal--and their turkey meal was like eating at home on Thanksgiving. Also, I do NOT like cherry pie, and I had a piece. Warm, fresh, flaky crust - I could eat that pie all day. We don't get back to this part of the country often enough, but every time we do, we will be stopping here!

Service is warm and friendly. The fresh waffles for the breakfast buffet were good and the warm syrup is a nice touch. Bacon is perfectly crisp. Burger at lunch was good. Not a huge burger but just the right size for lunch. You can tell it is made with good, quality beef. Chicken salad was tasty.

The pie is excellent! You'll have no regrets ordering it and it goes well the Leelanau coffee they serve. I also recommend the cherry salsa with cherry burger. The burger itself doesn't taste like cherries but the salsa is wonderful. It has a deep and enjoyable flavor with light sweetness. My boyfriend also loved the fishwich (cod sandwich) too. The staff is friendly. It's also great place to buy souvenirs. All sorts of cherry products. All sorts of fun cherry decor all over the place.

Great cherry burger. Also had cherry pie. Had a delicious Cherry Jerry cookie to go. Friendly staff and great service.
