Food and service are fabulous. The haddock burgers are excellent with a healthy portion of haddock. The crab roll got high marks as well. We ordered a crab pie just to try it...and it was delicious...more like a crab quiche, you can cut it and share. The only negative is that there is not enough shaded space to sit and enjoy your food. Best to go on a cooler or cloudy day. Prices were very reasonable. We will definitely go back.
Great, fresh seafood, burgers, salads, shakes and much more. Not cheap, but very fresh seafood and beautiful views of the bay in Castine.
We found Castine by just driving around and visited the Dyce Head lighthouse. This food stop ended up being some of our favorite food in Maine! The staff was friendly! We got the shrimp basket, fish tacos, cheese curds and lemonade. The shrimp basket was so delicious and fresh. The fries were crispy. The cheese curds were also good. I did enjoy the fish tacos but they could've used a little heat or a touch more seasoning. The lemonade was great balance of sweet and sour. The atmosphere though was great. Enjoying good food right on the water! What more could you want?
The Captain’s Catch is a tiny little takeout right on the Town Dock nested between where the Training Ship State of Maine docks and the historic town of Castine. I think it really adds both character and flavor to the Waterfront area of this quintessential coastal Maine community. I visited this place several times in the summer of 2018 before deciding on a 5 star rating for this eatery. And I'm heading back this year! Here’s some reasons why: Location. This is just a great spot. If you come to Castine in the summer, you HAVE to grab a burger, BLT or Lobster Roll and eat it on the Dock. The few interactions I had with the people working there was always positive, very friendly and helpful. The Burger/Fries was delicious. The BLT was basic but extremely tasty. Since I don’t eat seafood, so I have depend on others for their input on the stuff that swims in the water. The Lobster Roll. Here’s what was relayed to me: At first glance, the roll did not look appetizing . However, the eating told a different story. A classic, traditional lobster roll, the pieces with cut small alot of places use big chunks, and a claw to top. So that it LOOKS good, but that cause it to be a struggle to eat. The roll was toasted/buttered on one side as it should be. Overall great Lobster Roll. As I said previously, if you’re in the area, you MUST, MUST partake in the whole experience of Castine, including eating whatever Catch appeals to you at the Captain’s Catch on the Town Dock. Ahoy!
If you like to have a delicious meal, this is the place , we have the fish tacos and cheese lobster sandwich , delicious. If you want the kids quiet and happy ,ice cream the key, also delicious. Thank you to the staff very friendly and polite people. Many of the reasons to stay and visit Castine. Our best spot ever.
Very tasty fried Haddock sandwich and homemade crab pie! The coated fries were Outstanding as well! Great location on the water! The ocean air topped off our lunch experience for sure! Very friendly and knowledgeable staff as well!!! Highly recommend!
Overall, my family thought the food was mediocre. The fish taco was overly breaded. The bang bang shrimp sauce was decent, but again, just squeezed atop breaded shrimp. Our kids enjoyed eating the ice cream, but it wasn't their favorite ice cream in Maine. We were in agreement that the best part about eating here was the outdoor dining along the water.
Beautiful spot for lunch right on the water. Not all the tables have shade, but most had umbrellas. Food was really good.
I'm not a fan of seafood but I swore I would try lobster in Maine. I am now definitely a fan of this place's lobster roll. So very delicious! It also was refreshing how nice the people were.
Quick and friendly service. Delicious lobster rolls and the bang bang shrimp tacos are excellent, too. Make sure to snag a table with a view of the bay.
