My daughter and I enjoyed a girls weekend at this timeless Inn. Beautiful historic and sprawling. Room was spacious and spotless. We were impressed to find a working fireplace and very comfy Beds with many pillow options. We loved our balcony and the great view. Normally we dont use TV but we missed the World series game 1 because we couldnt get a feed. We loved dinner too amazing food arancini, shrimp and fish and chips and fresh salad wonderful cocktails and breakfast was excellent also we had french toast and eggs bennie. Coffee was incredible too. Did we mention the Staff? Bartender/ servers and desk xoxo top not h. We also loved the massages Sandra was great. I do wish there was an esthetician for pedicures but none was available on our stay. The grounds are sprawling and gorgeous especially lit with fall colour. Im sure the weddings onsite would be exquisite and the summer booking on that beach would be phenomenal.

We booked this stay specifically for the Christmas dinner, but the experience was disappointing.nnThe indoor hot water pool—one of the main reasons we chose this hotel—was closed, which already reduced the value of our stay. More concerning was the Christmas dinner itself. Staff could not find our reservation and seated my children and me at a temporary side table. After waiting without assistance, I had to go to the front desk, where I was told our name was on an “other list,” with no clear explanation.nnAlthough the issue was eventually acknowledged, we were left at a poorly set, isolated table while other guests had properly arranged settings. On Christmas night, this felt uncomfortable and unwelcoming.nnI remained calm for my children’s sake, but this experience fell far short of expectations for a Christmas package.

The Briars is a lovely resort - beautiful grounds, great location by the water, many amenities for guests to use.  The service was exceptional - I would have offered a 6 of there was one!  One young woman at the front desk ran around the resort for 15 minutes in search of a replacement ping pong ball for us, which she eventually found!  All staff were extremely helpful and friendly.nThe rooms and the resort in general are in need of an update/renovation.  In our room, the carpets were stained, two light bulbs were out, and the towel rack kept falling off.  With some investment in the physical space and upkeep of the facilities, I believe it could be a top-notch resort.

I was quite appalled with the lack of customer service and follow up from the reservations team and General Manager as I was booking rooms for our son's hockey team. Their cancellation policy was ambiguous, with some receiving deposits back and others not. Worst of all, they were 100% uncommunicative for families that had questions or concerns related to our stay. This reflects on the management and staff and their apparent lack of any customer service. I had stayed there years ago, and really enjoyed it, but the current state of affairs compelled me to share this note to help others from getting burned.

Our room was comfortable - but in SERIOUS need of refurbishing. The bathroom appears to be from the 1960's, and the carpet smelled musty. As soon as you walked in the room, the musty smell was overwhelming. I didn't take pictures to show all the areas that are dirty/grubby and outdated. Even the carpets in the common areas smelled musty. It will be some time before we and our 4 friends return. The only great thing about the Briar's is the staff. They were outstanding!!!!!!!
