My partner, 3-month old and partner are traveling here from Portland, OR for a wedding and had dinner at the Bearded Frog. It was fantastic! The “Frog Juice” cocktail was well-balanced- earthy, tangy and enough of a kick the second one was stronger- and better!. The duck was cooked perfectly. The masa “gnocchi” was a little dry… but the roasted succotash was tasty and the drizzle helped a bit I actually mixed the blueberry sauce from the duck with the honey jalapeño from the gnocchi … which I think made each better!. Our server was polite, professional, knew the menu and was able to offer multiple alterations to meet our dietary restrictions. The GF options were clearly labeled, and there was several to chose from. I’d have given it 4.5 stars because there is no changing table in either restroom, and the for the dry gnocchi, but the tastiness of the Frog Juice made me a little more generous!
Duck was dry, tofu was flavorless and the risotto was over done. Not terrible, but could do better for the price. Why such a small amount of icecream? The garnish made the dessert look teeny.
The menu is described as eclectic, correctly, but I wasn't disappointed; we both ordered vegetarian meals and our dishes were top notch, service was excellent and the atmosphere just right.
Excellent meal. It’s fine dining so the plates are small but we had the chipotle sweet potato enchilada and broccolini appetizers, followed by a beef tenderloin and a veggie burger, and lastly a tasty maple crème brûlée and a chocolate torte, all washed down with a few delicious margaritas.
Very nice restaurant. Great for a romantic night out. Their seasonings and red meat is delicious. I highly recommend the calamari appetizer! For the amount of food you get, the prices are quite high but the taste is wonderful which therefore explains the price!. When I went, my party did not try dessert but it looked wonderful. The service was very good but reservations are a good idea.
We ate dinner here on restaurant week the food was not good at all, not much flavor in cassoulet , canned tomatoes with white beans that had not absorbed any flavor with a lot of dry herbed bread crumbs a lot and nothing was cooked properly from the duck to dry hard cookies. Very disappointed we had heard good things about the food. The service was great, she noticed I wasn’t eating and offered another meal on the menu and again nothing was cooked properly. We will not be going back! Very poor food preparation especially for price!
The folks at the Bearded Frog have some kind of special genious, from the drinks to the food. Wonderful atmosphere and attentive waitstaff. Had a great time celebrating a special occasion.Dine in: YesTakeout: Yes
A wonderful restaurant with great atmosphere in Shelburne. The food was very good, the service prompt and attentive. From the Venison Cigar Rolls, to the Pork Rib Eye and the Bacon and Plum Stuffed Chicken, it was all very tasty. The savory Banana Chive quick bread was also surprisingly good. Sounds unusual, it is, but very good. Deserving of a visit while in Shelburne!
The Frog has been a personal favorite of mine and my families for many, many years. We love sitting at a booth, the cocktails and each dish are delightful. I've never left here feeling unsatisfied. The staff goes above and beyond!
We have never been so insulted as we were at this otherwise pleasant restaurant. The food was good. The service was attentive. But after a glass of white for Molly, a cocktail for me and a shared bottle of red half of which we didn't finish and are bringing back to our motel, the bartender refused to pour us a cognac with which to enjoy our sorbet. This dispute the fact that WE WERE NOT DRIVING. And so we wait for our Lyft!
