Really like the feel and trendy rustic ambience of Barkeaters. Food was good. Salmon, corn chowder and dill carrots, great. Cioppino and lava cake okay. Everything was well priced and the staff was quick, friendly, and on top of all the takeouts and tables. Nice perk during the chaos of these times. A lot of regulars were coming and going and chatting with staff, which I found testament to their good food and service. Appreciate and looking forward to trying their multiple veggie options.
Great restaurant in Shelburne. The atmosphere is relaxed and decor is like rustic ski lodge / old england Inn. The menu has great options from farm to table fine dining to small plates & appetizers, as well regular pub fare of burgers and sandwiches. My wife loved the seared yellowfin tuna and I had the duck specials which was delicious! Wednesday is burger night and well worth a visit.
Service was spot on and professional, I love it when my water glass is refilled without asking! The mussels were plump and sweet with a broth begging for bread, which the server brought more of with an "of course!". All of our dishes came out piping hot. My scampi had just the right amount of spice, my husband would not share his shepherds pie, the salmon salad was beautiful and the fish was cooked perfectly to medium. For the past 6 years I've dined here, the experience is consistently great.
Well it turns out we were there on Prom Night. The place was packed with eager teenagers. The noise was overwhelming. But the staff were awesome. They found us a quiet place out on the patio. At dusk, when the Prom-goes left for the dance and the mosquitos invaded the patio, the staff came to our rescue and smoothly moves us inside. The burgers were awesome. Puts ANY burger chain to shame. Great to have local micro-brew beers on tap. Kudos to the chef and staff.
Bland food, terrible cocktails, lousy service and not family friendly. My partner, 3-month old son and I were visited from Portland, OR for a wedding and had dinner here. The food was fresh but bland. I had the veggie curry and she had the pork chop. Neither special, although the pork chop was a generous serving. The cocktails tasted like they came from a bowling alley. The server couldn’t be bothered to ask the cooks about ingredients we have a couple of dietary restrictions and could offer no substitutions. And there wasn’t a changing station for our son in either the women’s - or God forbid- the men’s restroom. I cannot recommend Barkeaters for the food, drinks or general vibe.
The food was decent but the atmosphere, our waitress Eileen and the bartender made our anniversary night great. When I come back to Vermont I hope to see you guy's again. Thank you

We stopped for dinner after touring around Shelbourne. They were able to get us in without a reservation. Friendly personable staff, great service and fantastic food. Some traditional dishes with an extra added flair.
This place was wonderful! We had a big party of 9 and with 2 kids. The staff was more than accommodating and pleasant. We ended up going to this place while in town for my wedding because of their gluten-free options and substitutions. The swordfish I ordered was phenomenal! It wasn't over cooked to the point where its like chewing gum. The Seafood Risotto was very well made. It was nice and fluffy. The lobster wasn't rubbery. The atmosphere is very calm and softly lit. The have an outdoor eating area as well. It's a nice little rustic place. I would 1000% recommend this place to eat. My only regret is that I don't live nearby so I could enjoy this wonderful place.
