Beautiful restaurant. Delicious Thai foods. We stopped here to have lunch on the way to Cathedral grove. The location is right off the highway. Easy to find and park. Inside is cozy and colorful, with a bunch of Thai cultural elements. It was fun to look for the cities I know on the hanging map of Thailand. We ordered chicken with cashew, one green curry with beef and coconut soup. They are all pretty good. Full of flavor. Better than the most Thai restaurants i tried in Nanaimo. Only one thing: Next time I’ll choose Mild spicy rather than medium. I used medium spicy at Indian restaurants as a reference when I ordered, but obviously I was wrong . Still yummy though. Will definitely go back when we travel down there.
I love small town Asian restaurants - some are hit and some are miss, and they always have heart. This restaurant is a HIT. Hidden gem that no one knows of. Literally the best kept secret on the Island. The owner visited Canada from Thailand and fell in love with Vancouver Island. He brought the family here and they proceeded to run the dopest Thai restaurant in the west. Try the coconut soup.
Stopped here on the way to Coombs a couple weeks ago and it was so satisfying. My sister and I ordered the Yellow Curry and Pad Thai lunch specials and a Tom Kha Gai with rice. All was sooo good but the Tom Kha in particular was fabulous. It's rare to come across good Thai food on the Island, and we were very pleased. Service was super nice and quick! Would definitely come here all the time if I lived nearby.
What a lovely restaurant, very friendly, comfy, and super delicious. The ladies recommended what to order and the servings were exactly what we needed. We are happily full and no leftovers. I’m glad I took their advice and didn’t crazily ordered too much. A very honest and homey place to enjoy authentic Thai dishes. Definitely will come back to this city and this restaurant.
Was it an off night or is this a new standard? When last I rated this place it was four if not 4 and 1/2 star experience. But my latest experience has dropped it down. Why? Because the cost has gone up so high, and the amount of food and shift in quality has gone down. Now I'm all for restaurants making their overhead and a good profit so that they can pay their staff what they are worth. Yet when you start to see a decrease in the value and quality, that's where the breaking point is. I have watched my favorite dishes go up in price by $5 over the last 2 years. Inflation included, that is still a lot. Now you have to give a wide berth as some dishes have expensive ingredients. However the chicken cashew nut does not. The cashew nuts were not expensive quality or quantity and frankly there was maybe $4 worth of ingredients in my takeout container . Now speaking of containers, I am wondering if the price hike is paying for this Tupperware worthy plastic? I mean that's great and all but if you're not someone who's going to reuse it then that's just more landfill. I would rather have a biodegradable food safe paper product or alternative if it meant the dish was going to be $14 instead of 16. Because as you can see by the photos, it was barely half full . And there's the bite - pun intentional At $16 plus tax getting an order of curry that is literally $4 worth of ingredients and yet not even 1/2 filled to the container was pretty disapointing. As was the quality. Again maybe it was an off night and I just happened to get somebody sloshing out a dish without paying attention. But it was overcooked, excessively oily and sweet, without a lot of flavor other than salt. The small amount of chicken that was in the dish had the cheap cut marinated with baking soda texture to it. Hope I'm wrong about that one Also I had my two other favorites. The first was spring rolls which have also jumped in price by $4 to now $10/4. They were 'okay' but we're not cooked at the proper temperature . Or should I say reheated because these were obviously cooked previously and then reheated to serving. When you do not have the oil hot enough, they basically absorb access. And I wrapped these all in paper towel before eating because it was just too much oil. Last up was the green chicken curry coconut. It was okay but overcooked and missing basil which is odd cuz that's usually an overflowing ingredient at this place . Overall this was a four out of 10 experience from me based on what is usually 9/10. Really hoping it's a one-time thing but I'm not sure with that price hike/less food mad less quality if I'm going to go back again. Vegetarian options: Always also vegetarian off ers Parking: Always lots of parking Dietary restrictions: If you're very clear about what you can and cannot have they are quite accommodating. But know that there is not a dedicated cooking prep area or dryer for those of you who are Celiac
This is the best Thai food I’ve had outside of Thailand. The drive from Nanaimo is well worth it. We had tom yum soup, red curry, Thai fried rice and pad Thai and it was unreal. The staff is always friendly too. Highly recommend
Fantastic food at very reasonable prices. Closed between lunch and dinner, so check before you go. Limited seating but take out also offered. Convenient to Little Qualicum Falls and Cameron Lake picnic areas.
10/10, outside looks unassuming but inside is beautiful and the food is delicious
Casual dining spot among few others! Great pad Thai and friendly service!
We LOVE the food at this local restaurant, every time we order! It's currently open for take out only, during the pandemic, but worth the drive. We look forward to ordering again next week I already have my order chosen.
