Great place! Service is great and the food is very tasty! You'll leave full and satisfied. The staff are very efficient and friendly as well. Their menu consist of mostly fried food so I felt lethargic after our meal but that's just me.They offer you green tea it helps and check on you if you want more. Will definitely come back! They still have a lot on their menu that I want to try.
This is addictive. The tempura is a light batter so it doesn’t feel heavy. Coupled with an amazing tempura sauce drizzled over the rice and fried tempura - I feel like I can eat this forever. I got the seafood don and the shrimp and squid were amazing. We also got a side of chicken wings - it’s not fried but done with a sweet sauce. It reminds me a little of the sweet Korean fried chicken sauce honey garlic perhaps.
I really loved this little place! It does get busy, but even on a Friday night me and one friend managed to be seated in 20 mins. The food was delicious and filling, and the flavors are authentically Japanese. Keep an eye out for the extra sauce on the table! The cheesecake is served with an adorable shovel spoon! It wasn't too sweet or heavy, it was sort of like eating a cross between whipped cream and yogurt with a delicious strawberry compote. The wait staff is kind and quick, but they do get busy so try to be patient! A fantastic place to hide from the rain in.
*We arrived for a late lunch, so we were really hungry and that might have influenced our perception of the food* The restaurant was very clean, bright and welcoming. The host greeted us, checked our vaccination cards and promptly showed us to our table, then offered us a choice between water and green tea. The drinks came immediately and shortly afterwards a server came by with menus. She took the time to explain the menu and offered us her suggestions when we asked for them. The food came very quickly and was absolutely delicious! I loved that you are offered a dish to place your tempura so it doesn't get soggy. The tempura batter was crispy and light. I was worried it wouldn't be enough food since we were so hungry, but the serving sized turned out to be plenty filling for us. We really enjoyed our experience: quick, friendly service and delicious food! We'll definitely be back. Plus it was nice to see that the staff were very multicultural; we heard the staff speaking English, Japanese, Mandarin and Korean.
This place was amazing. Been looking for Tendon since moving back from Tokyo. Great ambience, food was fresh and delicious. Had the Ebi shrimp and Vegetable bowls spicy. Took us back to Japan. Price was very reasonable to or maybe just so coming from Toronto. Tempura was on point - light and crunchy.
I almost FORGOT MY WALLET! Thanks to one of their staff who run out immediately and give it back to me! So kind and of you. Never been to Japan before, but it is my second visit here. This restaurant offers awesome Tendons! Tasty food in lovely bowls. The staff are very friendly. They welcome you with exciting Japanese words. The overall experience is great.
Finally got to try this place and it's as good as hyped. The bowls are so tasty, the sauces is really good! The interior is also super cute, very calming. Definitely going to try the combo of tempura and sashimi next time, as well as the melon milk
Fantastic tempura bowl that made me feel like I was back in Asia. Could have used a bit more rice but the quality of the food was top notch. Would come back more frequently if tempura were healthier not a knock against this place.
Finally I understand the hype of this spot, literally one of the best I’ve ever had. This is NOT like any other the tempura that you find in most Japanese restaurant! Kohaku Tendon’s tempura is lightly battered, crispy, and 100x more delicious. We ordered: - Kohaku Tendon - Prawns, chicken, squid, baby corn, french beans, shiitake mushroom, kabocha pumpkin, and soft fried egg - Anagon Tendon - Anago, prawns, chicken, French beans, shiitake mushroom, lotus root, soft fried egg - Chawanmushi - Japanese steamed egg in reach seafood broth with ikura, shrimp, chicken, spinach, fishcake. I love chawanmushi so much, super smooth-silky, and packed with umami flavour!! It’s a must order for me You can choose the tendon to come with a spicy or regular sauce. The star for me is the soft fried egg - crispy outside, and when you popped it, melt in your mouth. yumm!! We prefer the Kohaku Tendon than the Anagon tendon, since we expect the eel to be more flavorful. Overall, it’s a must try in Vancouver!! Nice location in downtown area. Hopefully they open up a branch soon in Toronto.
Really like the way how this restaurant is decorated. Gives you a relaxed feeling. The tempuras are served in the best temperature. Amazingly crispy and most importantly NOT Oily! Will come back again :
