TD Canada Trust

I have been a customer of TD bank for 13 years and always thought to have the best customer service in the banking industry. But over the years TD has now dropped to its lowest. And if you search on reviews of TD customers on the internet you will be shocked to see the numbers. My recent upsetting story with TD is with the investment I made 3 years back on Precious Metals Certificates sold by TD. As per their website: "You can buy and sell gold and silver certificates just as conveniently as making traditional stock market trades." NOT TRUE Firstly the process is not as simple as they say on the site. Secondly there are a lot of hidden fees that are no where mentioned anywhere and TD will not give it to you in writing even if requested. Thirdly when you buy the certificate, on top of the processing fee, you also pay more than 2.5% over market price per ounce. And when you go to sell it back to them, on top of again the processing fee, you again lose over 2.5% of the current market price. So basically by doing a simple math by doing this trade, you are twice paying processing fees and lose 5% of your investment. The certificate says that "The TD Bank undertakes to deliver, subject to payment of all charges, xxx fine ounces Troy of precious metal to the bearer" ... Again TD will not provide any paperwork or list of these charges. They will tell the banker only on the phone which is passed on to the customer by word of mouth. And when I did the math the charges, fees and delivery would cost the customer over 20% of his investment, no wonder TD won't give you the details in writing. My advice is to shop around and research and read customer reviews of banks, just like you would do when buying a new or used car. Believe it or not but there are other banks that give you far better customer service without charging ridiculous fees, no matter what your need may be.

This specific branch is horrible! Do not waste your time going to ATM it is usually empty. One ATM!!!! Down town!!!??? They are wasting potential profit and frustrating customers to the point that they have to enforce the back of the doors because people must slam them In frustration on the way out.

I wouldnt send my worst enemies here. YES I DID HAVE A TD BANK, untill they charged me 80$+ when the account was inactive for 2 years (Hello I was 18 and unemployed!) They tried freezing a GOVERNMENT CHECK for TWO WEEKS. They cannot be trusted, ironic to their name. Avoid these guys, signup to RBC and enjoy better benefits, and higher grade customer services.
