Had been here during Diwali and they had quite a variety of Indian sweets. The sweet platter for $11 where you get to pick and choose sweets from the one's available was a good deal. The sweets were delicious and when compared to other Indian groceries around they were comparatively cheaper and very affordable. One piece of such a delicacy is average $2 per piece in the other grocery stores. This eatery is more inclined towards Punjabi food and the Kolkata chicken roll $11 was very good. Rajasthani Laal maas was good too. Worth a visit here. Do not expect a restaurant kind of service - you place an order, pick up when your number is called out and then you could have it anywhere in the seating area.
The food here is amazing. Authentic Indian food. Yummy and price worthy. We've had the butter Paneer masala, palak Paneer, mango Lassi, Gobi manchurian, garlic Naan, butter Naan to name a few. More than once. And their taste is consistently good.
To all my friends in Portland who want to eat good Indian food I recommend Desi Bites . I have tried Choley bhature , dahi puri , samosa chaat , pav bhaji .Every dish is super including the management Harpreet Nehal Sachu! Thank you for making us feel at home!
We used to order from desibites everytime and food used to be really good... But today we got chicken piece in vegetarian manchurian biryani which is really unexpected and worse. We are very particular about vegetarian and because of this very upset and disappointed.
Kolkata kathi roll was a joke, literally dripping with curry from the chicken pieces inside. Not recommended. Instead try the kebab platter. It was good. Service took way too long because of the kebabs we ordered. A little undercooked since they took nearly 20mins to serve the order. The seating place was not very clean either, you have to clean yourself before sitting. Enjoyed the Hindi songs being played on the TV lol.
It was an amazing coincidence that we asked them if they would make a cakes and if they could bake one for our daughter's birthday. They clearly explained they've just begun their journey in the baking department and only have a few basic indian flavours of 'rasmalai' and 'mango or alternate fruits'. But were keen to hear me out and build something to meet our needs. Saurabh the Pastry chef was extremely accomodative and worked with us towards this cake with fresh strawberry cream and cut strawberry pieces. He must've called me atleast 4 times to confirm every part of the cake process. And in the midst of this also mentioned this was to be their first designer cake. The final product came out exactly and even better than what we had hoped it to be and can only thank Saurabh for his persistence! The pastry department will surely progress with his hardwork! The store now stocks up on a lot of Indian fast food, semi-cooked and ready to eat meals and snacks. Found frozen Indian veggies as well as some lovely Indian pickles
My husband and I came here for the first time tonight. We got a recommendation, and those friends have our undying gratitude. The place is clean, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the music they played was pretty cool too. Neither of us is overly familiar with Indian food, so we asked for suggestions, and the guy was super nice in helping us. The butter chicken is super good, and they made it nice and mild. We also got the garlic Naan, which we literally fought over. The samosas were tasty as well. It was all so delicious that we ate it all before we could take pictures.
It may look like a average neighborhood restaurant but food is Excellent and delicious. We ordered paneer tikka masala, roti and gobi. The roti was soft and panner tikka had right balance of flavor. Kudos to their gobi Manchurian, we have tried gobi almost in all restaurants around here and by far this is the best, reminded me of the road side stalls back in India. By the end of the meal we were planning our next visit to try out other items on the menu.
I have ordered Chicken Tikka Kabob and Tandoori...both are hardly cooked. we can just see raw chicken layer. I cant even chew it. Completely had to throw it in trash.
Used a Groupon to try the first time, and I was really impresses for such a small place. I was welcomed, and had the menu explained to use. The food was a good proportion of the price, and we will return. I spent a year in Thailand and love spicy and hot food. Just be aware its really spicy Hot it was too hot for my wife, all except for the Samosa's. Its about the equivalent to most Spicy Thai foods when you order it Five stars in Hotness : Wish there on line menu had prices. Had Samosa, and Chicken Kathi Rolls These were too hot got my wife!
