Taprock Northwest Grill

My five year old daughter... she and I went to get lunch at Taprock. I loved the fish tacos! Big portion...great meal but...my daughter got the children's sliders with fries. She just refused to eat it after one bite of each. I knew she was hungry from playing at the park. Burgers...even mine...are her favorite. So I tried a bite to see if it could be some flavor she might not like. Well, the slider had no condiments on it and was very dry. It took a long time to chew the one bite! I was very disappointed that my daughter sat there and was fussy watching me eat. It wasn't a good experience. She is always a bit fussy but I gave her some of my food. It was so busy I kept trying to get a waitress during our meal just for napkins and it was impossible. I barely got out napkins and she ran off to another table nodding. I mentioned to the lady as I was paying and the manager, cause he was right near the cash register, that my meal was great but that I was highly disappointed with my daughters sliders. I literally left a whole plate of food there. He just smiled and said sorry about that and hope you have a good day and walked away. So I continued on to the waitress. She apologized and said there are other menu items to choose from. I payed in full and gave a small tip. But I won't be going back there unless its a convention. Cause I was just pretty disappointed.

We met friends here and just had a cup of tea. The surroundings and omnience are absolutely stunning. The meals were large that our friends had. And they were very happy with their meal. From where we were sitting we could see the beautiful waterfalls and the river.

The salads were fresh and delicious, and the iced tea was very good. Service was also very good. We enjoyed sitting outside with view of the river. The only thing we didn't like was how uncomfortable the chairs were; cushions would have been nice.

I've had brunch, lunch and dinner here, but I was really underwhelmed each time, and I really wanted to like this place because of the location. The food was mediocre at best, the place was dirty, and the service was less than mediocre. Hopefully someone will whip this place into shape someday.

Taprock was the very first restaurant we ate at when we moved to Grants Pass. The inviting atmosphere welcomed us, after 3 long days on the road with a diverse affordable menu. It quickly became one of our family favorites. Whether it be summer or winter, this is one of our favorite locations to take our family of 5. Its affordable menu is loved by kids and adults alike. It is also a go to spot for a date. We love sitting by the fire in the winter overlooking the picturesque Rouge River, or eating on the deck during the fabulous southern Oregon summers. From a simple bowl of clam chowder, to a delicious steak, Taprock offers affordable upscale dining to the city of Grants Pass.
