Tamarind East Indian Restaurant

Great experience. Very nice ambiance. The food is good and cooked to perfection. I found it to be not overly spicy. The waiters were friendly too. They don’t have a kids’ menu so not many options for the kids, but my kids loved the Hakka Chicken noodles. I recommend this place for anyone looking to try something different.

The food was good! Fish pakora was AMAZING! Punjabi fish was AMAZING and very flavorful! Peshwari bread could be more buttery, but still was good. The only issue is the service! One important note to your servers - never call your clients by race or color. NO matter who they are yellow/red/white/black! Saying to clients "usually WHITE PEOPLE are ordering this and that" is not acceptable! Its a shame to hear this type of comments these days from the "TOP restaurant" servers! Felt a slap in the face and very discriminated. Butter chicken and curry was obviously made for "white people" under spiced, too much tomato and very little authentic flavor. We came to experience authentic Indian food that is not adjusted according to skin color! Shame! And secondly, would be nice to have a coat rack for clients , we are living in Canada, and comfortable dinner without coats on the seats would be preferred. Hope you'll improve your service! Tamarind is my favourite Indian restaurant in Calgary - their butter chicken is delicious! One order of garlic naan comes with 3 large pieces and should suffice for one main dish. When I'm with a group, I love ordering their aloo tiki with the variety of sauces on their spicy potato cakes. Service is always friendly and inviting. When I arrived, the staff took awhile to notice me but in fairness they seemed to be organizing a larger party that decide to drop by for dinner before me. From there, the service and attention they gave me as their customer was excellent. Interior is beautifully decorated and relaxing because it is a dim/darker ambience for a restaurant. I'm looking forward to trying their chai tea next time I'm back!

So delicious. Nice decoration. Halal lamb and beef. Generous portions of meat. The taste was amazing. Kind and caring staff. Plan to have a meal with my friends and family. Nice and cozy place. Order: khorma beef, plain rice and Lamb beriani.

The serving staff was excellent. So was the food. We have eaten here many times and have always been extremely satisfied. The portion sizes are large so we always have enough to take home for another meal.Food: 5/5

I usually have issue with the level of spicy with indian food. The waitress told me the mild is not that spicy and she was absloutely right, Food was amazing, place was so cozy and clean. I loved everything about this place. Try the chicken lollipop you will love it

We have been looking for a new Indian restaurant in this area and settled on Tamarind due to proximity. It was a Friday night, busy and despite not having a reservation, they found us a table quickly. The interior of the premises is clean, warm and cosy and the staff are very attentive. The menu was decent but as it was our first time, we both picked familiar dishes so we knew what to expect. The food arrived very quickly but didn't feel like it had been reheated, so in my opinion, was definately made fresh and was very pleasant. The prices were very reasonable and we were both very happy with every aspect of the business. Atmosphere, staff, menu, food quality, price. I can't find any fault in anything, so a well earned 5 star from me!
