Busy, efficient and quick staff with authentic South Indian dishes. I truly love their mouth watering Mutton curry , chicken korma along with beef dishes. Had foods few times and my family love their dishes. Parathas and Nan is always fresh. I do take outs and so thankful to find one good restaurant NW part of town. Owners keep the authentic style of South Indian dishes always use fresh foods not a day old foods and continue with great service, we will support you - the best spicy Hakka noodles so far.
This place has authentic south Indian food.. Even on weekends Sambhar was thick. I went there on Sunday and There was great waiting time of and even normal order of masalas dosa took 30-45 minutes. But wait was worth it, food is typically South Indian style. This place is must try if you like south Indian cuisine..!! Vegetarian options: Large variety of vegetarian options Parking: Good parking space available
Absolutely delicious. Very authentic South Indian dosas. The non veg thali and mutton briyani were really good. Just wished they gave us more meat for the briyani. They had the best prata I've ever had outside of Singapore. Be prepared to wait though. Service is extremely slow and we waited close to 45 mins for these 3 dishes. The owner seems very busy and frazzled running around but the food made it worth it. For reference these 3 dishes should have taken 15 - 20 mins max to come out.
This is my second time - dine in... Mostly we order take out.. Authentic south Indian taste food.. we have tried their Chinese and Punjabi dishes, but not that satisfying... In the south Indian menu they have lots of options for appetizers and main dishes.. above all their prices are very reasonable.. According to me, if you are not a south Indian person or looking forward to only dosa/idli/uttappam/vada, veg thali is not a good option... Since it's a very busy restaurant, their service is compromised..
Friendly staff, gets quite busy towards late night, portions were good sized, Chicken Vepudu was excellent, chicken Chet was okish. The K. Parotha was excellent and flaky.
Tried all South Indian restaurants in Calgary, Chennai spices is best one! Serves authentic South Indian food, chicken Tikka uttapam and chicken kotthu is must try!Food: 5/5
We stopped here for lunch while we were on our way to Banff from Edmonton. To our luck, it was a Saturday and we had the offer of the weekend thaali. We opted for the non-vegetarian Thaali with fish curry and the Chicken Chettinad as our side dishes along with a parotta and a masala thosai. Although the chicken chettinad and fish curry were served in small quantities, the fish curry was packed with flavours while the chicken chettinad was okay but not amazing. However, the overall portion of the thaali was definitely enough for the 2 of us with the parotta and masala thosai included as well. The thosai was done well with a crispy batter and potato masala that was well spiced. The chutneys did justice by elevating the flavours up since they were not watery in anyway. The rest of the thaali items such as the payasam, pappadum and the rasam were all accompanying the thaali well. As for the filter coffee, they took a while to arrive but in no way I can fault that as it was worth the complete wait with the perfect blend of the milk, sweetness and coffee flavours in it. All in all, for the very reasonable price with this big thaali, I do know that this will be my spot for South Indian food in Calgary. It’s a pity that over here in the Greater Toronto Area where I reside, South Indian food is usually slightly exorbitant or we are resorted to Sri Lankan food instead.
Chennai spices is my favorite restaurant for South Asian cuisine. Their food is very authentic and it's always worth traveling from Chestermere to Chennai spices. I hope they open another branch close to the northeast. They never let us down and the Channa masala gunpowder is a must.
Amazing south indian restaurant in Calgary. Must try Chicken tikka uttapam, Veg Pizza Uttapam, Mysore masala dosa and filter coffee..Food: 5/5
For someone craving ‘Good’ South Indian food at an affordable price, this is the place! We had ordered a Veg Thali and it was a combination of tiffin and rice items. Everything on the plate tasted delicious! The medu vadai definitely needs a special mention! Their North Indian curries tasted very authentic too! Would definitely recommend this restaurant!
