We had a lovely experience here! Quick and attentive service and good sushi! We got the Oshi Platter with 5 types of aburi: beef, scallop, tuna, salmon, and shrimp. It was delicious, I just wish the fish slices were thicker so we can taste more of the star of the show rather than the rice, which was too overpowering. The mentaiko cream udon was rich and creamy. The udon texture was perfectly chewy but the mentaiko amount present was quite little compared to other locations.
Honestly one of my favourite go-to sushi places. I always get the salmon oshi sushi! The chicken karaage was fresh and crispy. Also got the sexy salmon and the volcano roll. Both did not disappoint. In short, this is a place I keep coming back to because of the quality and service. Highly recommend!
This was my first time trying Sushi Modo. I've been searching for a good Katsu Don in Vancouver, so I looked it up on Yelp and found this place nearby.nnSurprisingly, this restaurant seems to be genuinely Japanese-managed rather than Chinese. The venue is clean and tidy, and the waitress served me politely with a big smile, reminiscent of restaurants in Japan.nnIn my opinion, the Katsu Don is a 3.5/5. The rice portion is just right about 1/4 cup, if you're familiar with rice cookers, you know what I mean. The pork cutlets with egg topping were decent, in the traditional Katsu Don style. The sauce was a bit salty but still acceptable. I'm not sure if it would be juicier if I dined in, as my pork cutlets were a bit dry inside, though the coating was still crispy and tasty.nnThe miso soup was tastier than the usual powdered versions. It included tofu, which added to the flavor and made the soup more enjoyable.nnThe 9-piece California roll was decent and worth the price.nnI will try again next time and see if dining in makes a difference.
We love Sushi Modo! Our family has been coming here for 2 years and it’s replaced the sushi spot in our neighborhood. Yes, it’s definitely worth the trip to come here for sushi. Try everything once I promise you won’t be disappointed. The staff is wonderful, food is great and the experience is top notch! Sushi Moto is A+
Cream udon was fantastic. It felt like experiencing a traditional Japanese meal. The beef in the beef tataki was so fresh. The staff were also very friendly. Enjoying a delicious meal was a great joy for me today. I hope many others can enjoy this excellent taste together.
