The food was GOOD, fresh and quality. The waitress was attentive and the chefs skills matches his reputation, while he does take around 20m to prep your dish it's well worth as you can see a lot of care put into the meal. Alright so why just 3*? Well... The atmosphere clashes with the price points, you come there thinking trendy college crowd type but the prices and food suggest classy. This would be a great place to bring your date to but it's heavy metal look doesn't fit at all! The price and food both show this place would better succeed in downtown with a more authentic look. The menu is rather limited as well, they took off rolls recently, this is BC..people are going to expect rolls, it's fine if you are going for an authentic taste and I've heard Japan doesn't really do rolls but you have to cater to your customers. If you can't afford rolls, make the rolls you can make with the inventory available. Which comes to my next point, the high price point is probably because of the expensive ingredients, the food was super fresh but when I saw the chef recommendations which included lobster tail I thought 'oh that's where the money went'. The location, and atmosphere do not match the food price/quality. The food portions weren't that great either, I ordered for one person and spent $20..I could have gotten the same experience in downtown for less.

This restaurant is amazing! I love the atmosphere as soon as you walk in – there is metal music playing, records and guitars on the walls, and music posters everywhere. The staff was very friendly and attentive. But the best part was the FOOD! Everything that I tried on the menu was amazing. I didn’t think that I liked anything but sushi rolls before I tried this place – now I don’t even want sushi rolls anymore! The sashimi is amazing, SO fresh and it almost melts in your mouth! I also tried the DTP burger which was fantastic, the food is phenomenal. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves sushi, and even if you think you don’t love sushi, this is the place to try!

great for some quality nigir. his own dish creations are worth trying if you are into it. busy friday-sunday. come on wed-thurs if you dont want to wait. if you let him know in advanced he can prepare some special pieces for you. photos tell the story. i like this place just as much as some of the "higher end" omakase only places in vancouver. very laid back experience and good quality tasty pieces.

A very disappointing experience. The omakase dinner is more of a kaiseki but that wasn't disclosed. With the restaurant clearly being understaffed, a meal can easily take 2+ hours, with the longest stretch without food being close to 1.5 hours, and the staff unconcerned. The food tatsed okay. Non-nigiri dishes were pre-prepared and hot items were cold when served. Luckily the sashimi style plates were made to order and tasted fairly good. The only fine dining things about it were the price and portion sizes. Coming in at $18 per plate per person (ie. $36 appetizer plate shared between two), it leaves you wondering what you're paying for. I reached out to the staff to share our frustrations but only received a brief, empty gesture apology. Perhaps this place is better for a la carte orders, but stay away from the omakase.

Best sushi I've had in Canada. It's pricey and takes a long time, so don't arrive super hungry. Still worth the wait. Unpretentious and ecclectic decor. Chef/owner is a rock fan.
