We loved going to sushi97 for a long time, and had told everyone they were the best sushi in town. Then, we ordered one of their special rolls that had "spicy tuna". It did not say cooked tuna. Anyone who has ever been to a sushi store would have thought that it was raw tuna with some kind of spicy mayo sauce. However, what we were served was a big chunk of unappetizing canned tuna, that has barely any mayonnaise or spicy sauce at all! It was like it was taken straight from a can from walmart, and tossed into our roll. We called sushi 97, and told them how disappointed we were. They responded by saying this roll had always had cooked tuna, and would not provide any refund or replacement. We are very disappointed by that food and their service, and will certainly not be going back.
I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while, but it’s mostly takeout. I now understand why, they seem to have transitioned after Covid to maintain a takeout focus with 10% off take out orders advertised, and lots of delivery drivers coming and going. I needed to dine in, there is a small corner in the waiting area with stools and a small wall bar table to seat 2 and 2 people. But you are staring at the wall and right by the main entrance, it’s a little awkward. And the main hostess is dealing with pickup orders, phones and delivery drivers so there’s not really any “server” to look after you. So no tea, no checking in on the meal. I got a roll and spicy agedashi tofu, it wasn’t bad but not great. I would try more of the menu to really get a full judgement but overall not my favourite place so far in PG
The best sushi in town! This is the only sushi place I will eat at anymore. Good quality fish with an excellent variety of choices. My only complaint is that the staff are a bit rude, but they make for it in good quality budget friendly sushi!Food: 5/5
First time for sushi 97. Delivery was a little late but no fault of driver as im kinda hard to find . But having said that the food was Hot, fresh and awesome. Driver was friendly. Was looking for Chinese but sadly many formerly good places have went downhill. I will definitely order from here again.Food: 5/5
Very impressed! Generous proportions on rolls- thin layer of rice with focus on the fillings. The mango roll had delicious large chunks of fresh mango! And the salmon sashimi was of good quality
Great place for lunch and dinner. Bento box are really good filled. Love the Teriyaki. Menu is good for the whole family even if you don't like sushi. Also takeout available. One of not so many restaurants with a steady high quality. On Saturday, Oktober 26th 2019 we faced at 8:45pm chairs on the table... they are open Saturday's until 9:30pm. Not customer friendly. Went there on Sunday. Food was good but PLEASE stop to serve water and tea in plastic cups. This is really disgusting!
Hands down, the best sushi in town. Moving back from Vancouver and working in Victoria, I’ve had my fair of sushi! Sushi97 is always fresh, polite, and worth every penny.
Had their sushi on the weekend. The price was okay for two, but shortly after eating both of us had really bad stomach problems. Barely made it home. They seemed really busy seemed in a rush with many workers packed behind the counter. Ordered the unagi rolls, california rolls and beef rolls and assorted tempura. The beef were really dry and falling apart, the rest of the rolls were not grear either. Something kind of seemed off. Won't be back again.
People from the coast, this is the real deal. Fresh and delicious, reminds me of sushi from Metro Van. Bonus points for pickup discount.Food: 5/5
