A Dignity Memorial provider in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Sunset Funeral Home and Cemetery maintains a commitment to the community as we respond to its changing needs, including the heritage of the Asian community.
Sunset Funeral Home and Cemetery has been providing funeral, cemetery and cremation services to the Minneapolis area since 1922. Throughout the years, we’ve maintained our commitment to our client families while responding to the changing needs of our community. The cemetery borders Saint Paul and Minneapolis on 130 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds. Since its beginning, Sunset Memorial Park has been a full-service cemetery. We have a funeral chapel on site, allowing for cemetery and funeral arrangements to be taken care of simultaneously. The cemetery offers above-ground entombment, above-ground niche and columbarium arrangements, and traditional burial.
All of the park’s buildings and memorials are uniformly constructed of Minnesota pearl pink granite. A magnificent administration building stands at the park’s entryway. Halfway down the main mall, the Tower of Memories rises to a height of 75 feet. Within its belfry is a 25-tone set of Deagan chimes
At the western end of the main mall is Sunset Chapel Mausoleum. Completed in 1933, the mausoleum is full of architectural beauty: windows filled with beautiful stained glass, brass doors, four levels of interior walls made of Italian marble and the original Kilgen pipe organ. The chapel’s majestic reflection is mirrored in the waters of the Roman pool. The park features two additional chapel mausoleums: the Chapel of Peace and the Chapel of Angels. Completed in 1999, the Chapel of Angels has one exterior wall dedicated to our public servants and veterans.
The surrounding landscaping includes a pond with waterfalls surrounded by colorful, flowering hedges, providing a serene place for reflection. Inside, the Chapel of Angels is home to numerous glass-front niches, which provide a unique opportunity for families to personalize and remember their loved ones.
The newest addition to Sunset’s grounds is our Garden of Eternal Peace, created under the direction of feng shui consultant Andrew Hong. Our vision for the Garden of Eternal Peace is to preserve and honor the esteemed traditions and unique heritage of the Asian communities in the Twin Cities. The Garden of Eternal Peace has unique plantings and landscaping, enhancing its spiritual quality and offering a tranquil place to reflect. The garden features custom lots and estates for private mausoleums, individual flat and raised monument areas, and numerous cremation options.
