Sunderland PS is the K-8 school for residents of the village of Sunderland, Ontario and surrounding areas.
Sunderland Public School is situated in the northern part of the Durham District School Board, in the village of Sunderland. At the present time, Sunderland Public School has a school population of 330 students who attend Full Day Kindergarten to Grade 8 classes. In addition, our school has a Junior Intermediate Academic Resource class and provides the site for Grove School for a Chimo day treatment class.
Active and supportive parental involvement is evident and encouraged. High academic expectations are a priority. Parents work in partnership with the school to ensure students are successful learners. We are a very busy and productive place that is filled with positive energy. Volunteers are always a welcome part of our school community. The Joint Community/School Library, which is located within our school, encourages our entire community to read on a daily basis.
Staff are members of our Professional Learning Community. Teachers and Educational Assistants work collaboratively to set strategic goals in order to enhance learning opportunities for all students. Staff regularly participate in team meetings and professional development activities to refine instructional strategies to meet the individual needs of our students and improve individual student achievement.
