I recently visited Strøm over the weekend to celebrate my birthday; I felt compelled as an Anglophone to write a review after seeing an overwhelming amount of 1star reviews.nnMy experience was very pleasant from the check-in to check-out. I did encounter staff members who did not speak English, when I asked if they spoke English I was not greeted with any unpleasantness. Instead, I spoke with them in French I am more comfortable w/ English as it is my preferred language and was able get the necessary information I needed.nnI only encountered one staff at the lower-level reception who did not seem pleasant, I did not encounter one smile from her and instead she seemed displeased to be there- I just did not let it phase me.nnI found it to be refreshing that this spa is mostly silent and the perfect place for those looking for some much needed r&r. If you are looking for a more social experience, there other alternatives in and around Montreal.nnThe only reason I am rating four stars opposed to five:nLike others I experienced difficulties in getting in contact w/ the Spa via telephonenEntrance is a little difficult to find if you have never been here beforenCheck-in lines are not very distinctively marked, one line states thermal experience w/ massage however they will take anyone so the line system can be confusing which could lead to long wait-times.nnOverall I had a very great experience here and was exactly what I needed for a solo Spa day.nnSo if you are looking for a Spa with thermal baths, cold baths, numerous saunas, a place for silent relaxation, dining, a variety of Spa amenities, close to Montréal, and free parking then this is your location. Additionally, you could literally spend the whole day here if you wanted to as the cost of entry has no limit!nnThank you so much to the Strøm team for a great experience.
A Mixed Experience at Storm Spa on Nuns IslandnnMy recent visit to Storm Spa on Nuns Island was a study in contrasts. There’s no denying the beauty of the location or the quality of the services provided. The view is simply spectacular, offering a serene backdrop that promises relaxation and tranquility. My massage experience was nothing short of exceptional. The therapist was skilled, ensuring that the session was not only relaxing but also effective in alleviating pain. For those aspects alone, Storm Spa would come highly recommended.nnHowever, my overall experience was marred by several factors that made it difficult to fully relax and enjoy the spa’s offerings. The staff, while undoubtedly attentive and polite, often came across as overly solicitous, to the point of being patronizing. Their manner of speaking felt more suited to addressing someone significantly older or perhaps incapable of understanding basic instructions, which I found quite off-putting.nnThe atmosphere of the spa, rather than being one of calm and relaxation, felt overly regulated and restrictive. Laughter and conversation seemed discouraged, capturing photos was not permitted, and the presence of security personnel was noticeably intrusive. Every few minutes, it seemed as though someone was being reminded of the rules, which contributed to a feeling of being monitored rather than pampered.nnFor those seeking a spa experience that feels like a retreat to a monastery, where silence is golden and interactions are minimal, Storm Spa might be the perfect destination. However, if you’re looking for a place to unwind freely, laugh, and perhaps capture a few memories with your camera, you might find the spa’s strict policies and omnipresent security stifling.nnIn summary, while Storm Spa excels in providing top-notch massage therapies against the backdrop of a stunning view, the overall ambiance and interaction with staff leave much to be desired for those seeking a more relaxed and less regimented spa experience.
This was my first Nordic spa experience and after living in Asia and experiencing the likes of Japanese onsen and Korean jjimjilbang, I was not that impressed with my stay here but it was still a good experience.nnThe outdoor spa was a lovely way to relax after doing a bit of touring around Montreal. There are two hot baths, two cold plunges, two steam rooms each with a different style, and resting areas including an infra-red room. Because it is outdoors and co-ed, bathing suits are required.nnYou must bring your own sandals and toiletries aside from the soap/shampoo in the showers. The locker rooms felt aged compared to the baths, but you aren't spending that much time in there anyways.nnGET THERE EARLY. Luckily, I entered right as they opened and was able to enjoy the baths and overall experience - even taking a small nap in the infra-red room. However, by 11:00 there were SO many people and most not abiding by the 'keep quiet' policies that it felt like it had turned into a cruise ship pool party. This was when I decided to leave.nnTotal: $100 for day access. Steep for Canadians but the USD I have helps leverage that just a bit. Overall, I wouldn't say I'd go again but I did have a nice time for the first few hours before it got extremely busy and chaotic.
Great experience, I made a reservation 2 weeks in advance which was great I didn’t have any issues this was during the holidays, the staff was absolutely amazing and helpful.nThe place is nice. I really enjoyed the steam rooms and sauna ‍.nThe food at the restaurant was ok. I liked that they have several places to drink water, you get thirsty.nI also liked that they had a facial hydrating cream to try on.nI would definitely go back.
Great Mothers Day experience.nThe food was good and the package gave us a glass of wine and a water bottle. We had the stone massage which was my 1st experience, and it was great. Smaller atmosphere with less people than Thermia, a relatable place in Whitby
