Stone Oven Bakery

This store is a great find if you're looking for fresh Middle Eastern breads! The young boy at the counter is proud of his shop and is good at suggesting what things to try. My favorite is the Fatayer with cheese-a pita foldover with mozza, mint, and feta. Today I tried the Fatayer with spinach which was equally delicious. I was looking for a pita pocket type bread to put some ground lamb filling that I made with feta, cucumber, and eggplant and he suggested using the Samoon which worked very well. Try their Souriana Baklava --it's not as syrupy as the Greek style but still flaky and sweet. We are so lucky to have this bakery in Surrey!

Very polite young guys running the place. They make all sorts of bread like Syrian, Iraqi, Afghani, etc. They also make mideteranean pastry like baklava, ghoraybe, etc. They also have Fatayer ( spinash, cheese) and sfayeh (لحم بعجين), and manakish. Most of the stuff is made the same day but you can get frozen fatayer and heat them at your own convenience at home. Don't expect to have Fatayer fresh all the time because they are not made to order, you may get lucky and buy them when they just have been baked. When you realize that this is not a restaurant, it will make sense to you. I have been looking for such a bakery place for a long time. I hope they can open a similar bakery in Vancouver or Burnaby soon.

We tried it today and it was really well done traditional eastern bread. Whole wheat and white option with olive oil and tea make the best breakfast ever!

Best artisan breads that reminds me of home. I just wish they were open late to give more time to shop for customers who come late from work.

Excellent bread, I hope they will start doing Zatar Manakeesh n Cheese Manakeesh fresh over the weekends,, not ideal to buy them frozen
