we never go to Starbucks anymore since the wait and service are not ideal; today we decided to try again. I ordered on my mobile app as we left save on and selected pick up in drive through. Order placed at 3:20, said would be ready at 3:23 so we headed straight there as no line. Barista comes to window, hands us our 2 drinks, and proceeds to tell us that you can’t come to drive through that fast for pick up as it holds up the line. Sure okay. But then didn’t give us the second part of our order for over 5 minutes of sitting there holding up the line well past our “pickup time”. he was complaining about us to another staff while we sat there. The only thing holding up the line was their poor service and his attitude was not appreciated
Simply put; the worst possible example of a Starbucks! The store is filthy dirty from the windows of the front doors, to boxes of inventory stack in the front of the store. The lack of cleanliness only increases behind the counter. Not sure if Canada has a health department, there’s no chance of this store being allowed to operate if there was.nnI waited at the counter for my short triple americano patiently as a new barista was going through training. After several people that came in after me got their drinks and left i asked them if they were working on the drink. The trainee, the trainer and another girl looked at me, said nothing and all three walked away to the back. Speechless myself I stood there in disbelief. After a few minutes of awkwardly standing there wondering what to do, not wanting to be that jerk customer, I watched another barista making drinks, he finally asked what I was waiting for. I told him and he couldn’t find my order, but kindly asked another girl to make it, after repeating my order two more times, the girl handed me my drink and said this one is yours. Picking up the cup it felt empty so I looked inside to find a cup with cream and I’m guessing a half a shot of espresso.nnStarbucks; you need to replace your manager, your DM and send someone from corporate to get this store turned around! We chose Tim Hortons for the rest of our trip in Canada
I requested an iced coffee with less ice and less cream, but the person preparing it added more ice than I preferred. In a polite manner, I asked for less ice. The person scooped out the ice cubes and poured some 2% milk directly onto my coffee. They handed me the altered beverage with an unpleasant demeanor. Feeling scared by her facial expression, I took the iced coffee without further objections. Unfortunately, I have no plans to return to this Starbucks location in the future.
Starbucks is quite standardized, but this location is unpleasant for two reasons. I think these two reasons are easy fixes and I hope the manager can address it with their team:nn1. On multiple occasions, my cups have been filled less than 3/4 of the way, which makes me feel like I am wasting my money and not getting what I paid for.nn2. Some of the employees at Starbucks wear such a heavy amount of cologne/perfume, which immediately triggers my allergies, makes me dizzy, and gives me a bad headache and stuffy nose. The service is also quite slow but I'm not complaining about the speed of the service as I'm sure the staff is really busy, so waiting for my order in an environment where it's difficult to breathe due to the amount of cologne in the air is really unpleasant.
I appreciate how thorough the barista tended to the drinks. Watching him, they all looked like menu photos. Idk if he was new, and this is why the slow perfection...? It'd be nice if more were like this. But I couldn't help but notice 2 important things. One, he put his hands inside the cups as well as applied lids touching the mouth pieces a lot. It's just that they don't wear gloves that are changed often, and how many orders did he process handling supplies, touching apons, face, etc, versus how often hands were washed? It was off-putting and took away from how careful he completed orders.nSecond, how much product waste! It's not just at this location. I only noticed more because the batista was very slow and the line was long, so there was plenty time to observe. It'd be nice if it was a company policy to put unused product, no matter what it is, in to a tall or short cup and offer it to the person that ordered it. Your employees are just washing it out anyhow. This way customers feel like ooo bonus topping, or frap.nnRegarding this location, the layout was a bit challenging to utilize with laptops or for work. Maybe about 1/4 will have charging outlets accessible.
