St Peter & St Paul's was originally founded as St George's in 1885 and has met at the corner of Metcalfe and Gloucester ever since. A rich history of faithful Gospel ministry to the downtown of Canada's National Capital culminated in the historic decision in 2008 to join the Anglican Network in Canada in order to continue faithfully within the Anglican tradition. Though the parish stayed much the same, a name change was required, and as has been often said by parishioners, "we traded in one saint, and got two in return." The parish joyfully continues in a 2000 year old mission to disciple a people to bless the world.
The Anglican Communion is the fourth largest denomination in the world. Established during the Protestant Reformation as part of the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church, Anglicans seek to be biblically faithful while retaining the ancient traditions of the Faith. As such, Anglicanism has no unique thought, practice, creed, or confession of its own. It has only the historic Faith of the ancient Church: built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the chief cornerstone, upheld in the Scriptures, preserved in the Creeds, defined by the Councils of the undivided Church, and liturgically expressed in praise to God through The Book of Common Prayer.
We are extremely blessed to have a large and talented team of clergy and staff. From teaching, preaching, leading services and simply being a blessing to those around them, our clergy seek to see Christians grow into disciples that bless the world.
We don't hold fundraising bazaars or bake sales at St Peter & St Paul's, but rather believe that the Lord will sufficiently provide us with our ministry support needs through the tithes and special offerings of our parishioners.
Discipling a people to bless the world!
