We bought a Yamaha CLP 775 piano. The sales lady was very nice and knowledgeable. Had fun Playing and learning about different pianos. She helped us narrow down our choice. Really nice helpful staff. Big investment but from a good place. We will be back for other things soon.

Top notch and knowledgeable service given by Mike Wilkinson today is a pure example of what customer service should be. No pressure, honest and straightforward answers. Although it was a minor purchase Yamaha p515, Mike treated my wife and i as if we were buying the store. Good job Mike! Cheers!
Took my Alto Saxophone in to get a once over, they fixed the couple things wrong with it and didn't over charge me trying to do unnecessary work. It plays amazing now and I was very impressed with the fast turn around. I highly recommend the repair service at St John's Music.
I came into the store as a visitor from another country after I visited a few Long and McQuade stores- after speaking to some people there, I was told St. John’s had a monopoly on Yamaha band instruments. As a Yamaha player, I decided to check it out. The store is fine, there’s plenty of method books other than the RCM books for specific instruments, but for being the only store with Yamaha band instruments, that had almost none either on display or in stock. It seems like they know if you need a Yamaha horn you have to order through them, so why keep a stock? I’ve been involved in the music business industry before, and understand there are some instruments that can take months if not years to come in. However, walking into that band room and seeing that there weren’t even displays for every band instrument rubbed me the wrong way. The employees were nice enough and tried to answer my questions, but ultimately I found everything I needed at Long and McQuade… sans the Yamaha instruments that I didn’t find anywhere.
Reserve a music book and picked up the next day. Nice and easy.
Knowledgeable friendly staff make it my go to place for anything instrumental!
NOT A WELCOMING PLACE! Because it's so dead in there, the gatekeeper woman, a white skinhead lady, has all the time in the world to stare at you inside the store, make you feel like you're stealing something! Not all musicians are poor Karen! No wonder you downsized, and closed up branches, not a good business culture. Shut down for the love of music!
I had the best experience here at this store, where I went to go and complete my research before buying a new piano. They spent so much time with me, answering all of my questions, showing me demonstrations, and helping me way pros and cons. I felt that they took the time to understand which points were the most important to me, and helped me narrow down my choice, all while respecting my budget. Excellent experience.
I went in looking for a guitar. They ended up selling me one that was above what I had originally budgeted for, but they reasoned that it came with a case and a $100 of gear from a promotion Fender was offering, that they said had been extended to the end of the month. I went for it. After I got home, I looked up the promotion and saw that only the registration date had been extended, not the purchase date which had expired a couple weeks before that point, and that it was only for purchases made in the U.S.. I was frustrated, but signed up anyways just in case it still worked why else would the St. John's staff be offering it?. I registered, and was told it would be 6-8 weeks for purchase confirmation and shipping. That week I didn't have much time to play the guitar due to a busy schedule. When I finally could, I realized that some of the strings made a ringing sound when playing the third fret at any decent volume finger picking was okay when played lightly. Disappointed, I looked at their return policy to see how much more time I had to return it, and saw that they only had a 7 day period, and charged a 20% restocking fee over $160 in my case!. This, of course, I found out on the seventh day, and was already busy, and couldn't bring myself to cancel something, just to lose $160 in a week. I figured I could try to see if the ringing would go away once the guitar adjusted to the new environment, and see if anything came out of Fender promo. Now, 10 weeks later, no improvement on the ringing, and the promo came up empty. Needless to say, I'm a little disappointed with my St. John's experience. the second star is because except for the third fret of a few strings, the guitar does still sound really nice
