A lovely surprise to see these museums not far from our hotel. We loved the Dr Seuss museum and we’re quickly taken back to the lovely books we read to our children. While we enjoyed see the history of this loved author it was fun to take a few photos with the Grinch and the Cat in the Hat. While visiting we stopped in at the Blake Cafe and enjoyed the delicious apple and butternut soup and tuna melt. Afterwards we went on to enjoy the Art and Science Museums. We highly recommend!
I was visiting from our of state and decided to visit these museums. I only had to to go to the science and fine arts museums. The science museum you can go through in an hour or so and had an easy layout to follow. The trex they have is a little odd looking but it's still fun. The fine art museum was very interesting. I personally was enthralled in the glass exhibit by Josh Simpson. His glass work is beautiful! Overall it was a fun experience, the staff was all very friendly and helpful.
Came here for Dr. Seuss and stayed for the fine art that I was not expecting. This is a collection of different buildings that house all kinds of different art. Everyone from young kids to grown ups will find something cool to love here. Parking can be a bit tough when it's busy so go early and take your time. The price is decent and you will get your moneys worth for sure.
Excellent place to take the family. Several different museums in one area to explore. I would say kids would enjoy the Dr Seuss museum most. It literally takes you into the world of Dr Seuss.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot surePrice for adult entryFree
Went to this along with the Dr Seuss Museum and had a good time. It's definitely on the smaller side but still had interesting facts and exhibits to look at. The kids loved the easiness of it and we're very interested in most all of the exhibits.
Springfield Museum is a jewel in New England. There are total five museums in the campus. Science Museum is in the same building as the welcoming center where you buy your ticket. We visited George Winter Vincent Smith Art museum and Museum for Fine art. Both have great collections with former contains more ancient and more Asian arts, the latter hosts more European paintings. Because the collections are in different buildings, you get a chance to finish one then go to the outdoor sculpture garden to have some fresh air before immersing to another. It could be a full day visit with so many to see. Very worth the time and the money to visit.
I've been going to this museum since I was little and I always loved it! The exibits are absolutely beautiful. Not too much has changed over the years but it's nice the way it is so im glad it hasnt changed. I do wish there were more hands on activities for kids to help them learn and stay busy. Most of the museum is looking around unless there's something planned for the day.
This is a large museum complex, so you'll have things to do for a full day. With an eight-year-old and five-year-old in tow, over about six hours, we covered the science museum, lunch in the café, the World of Dr. Seuss and one of the two art museums. We visited on Tuesday and had the place almost to ourselves!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$31+
5 museums and we only finished three. A great place for kids. Each kid had a blast and it's hard to meet three boys expectations. Will be back to discover the last two museums when weather gets warmer.
