Spilt Milk is an amazing place to get pastry’s and coffee! The customer service is outstanding. I got an iced salted caramel late, cherry turnover, ham and Swiss croissant, and two lavender scones. 5/5 stars
My first time coming in today, love supporting local coffee shops especially women owned one. I tried this place out because of good reviews. Staff was friendly when you come in and greeted promptly. However, the chocolate pie I got for to go I could not seem to finish it. It tasted a bit old and the crust had a old frozen after taste. Unsure if I got a bad batch or whatnot so I called to ask how long it has been out but the guy had said they take it out every morning and never frozen. Needless to say I’m not so satisfied and disappointed.
The new space is absolutely amazing, very friendly and inviting, and an expanded selection of not only delicious pastries but great pantry items. They also sell wine. What would be better than picking up a bottle of wine and some delicious quiche, with a incredible cinnamon roll to finish? Well worth the stop to check out the new place!
The best bakery in Oak Park! Everything made fresh in the morning, great variety of things, and delicious coffee and tea as well. They have an indoor seating area now which makes it even cozier.
Went to Spilt Milk because I happened to be in Oak Park and was looking for breakfast. The chocolate chip and expresso scone was the best scone I had ever had. Also grabbed some cookies to bring home to my wife and we both really enjoyed them. Only regret is they are not closer to Glenview as I would be a more frequent customer.
I came here with a friend and we both really enjoyed our pies, the chocolate chess was so good & chocolatey and my friend said his key lime was amazing. That’s why I was so surprised by the heirloom Apple pie I took home, the crust tasted more like a croissant than pie and the inside wasn’t very sweet. I was very disappointed by it. They do have very good cookies as well.
Had a lovely experience stopping in today to grab tea and a sandwich. Friendly service & the Garden Goddess Sandwich was delicious! Going back for pie soon :
The store is nicely layed out and the pies are incredible. I thought I had a key lime pie before. After eating this one, all will forever pale in comparison.
Spilt Milk continues to impress me. I don’t live in Oak Park, but make a point to stop in anytime I’m in the area for a brown butter cookie or a savory biscuit. The staff are always so friendly and welcoming. They also have an amazing selection of dry goods, great stuff to grab if you’re have a party or need a unique gift including an eclectic wine selection! You can tell the team here truly cares about their business, their product, and their customers. Happy to continue to support this small business.
I popped in by chance a couple of days ago while running errands. I love this place. I haven't seen or had chess pie in ages, it's especially rare to see in the Midwest. I had a slice and the next day I was back to buy a whole pie for a work party. There was a line from one end of the store to the door but I was lucky enough to snag one. And they were suprisingly fast with service, something tells me these lines happen often. This was at 8:30am on a Saturday. The chess pie was a huge hit! My coworkers inhaled it, many of which had never heard of chess pie. I swear it's just crack in carb form they make at this bakery and I am here for it. After a long night at work I went back to try a hand pie and opted for the chicken mole. My god it was so unexpectedly good. So good I had to write a review while eating it and walking back to my apartment. I usually pop into the local bakeries after my night shifts for breakfast, hands down this place is now the top of my list. The pastry and pies may fool you into thinking it's down home baking, which it is, but after you take your first bite you realize it's professionally made comfort food. Which I feel a lot of places attempt but few can pull off as we as as Spilt Milk does. 11/10 would recommend.
