The pothole viewpoint is so beautiful! It’s forbidden to get down to the pothole but people would still take the risk and climb over the fence. The viewpoint is near parking lot #2 and after that you can walk to the beach and dip into the water. It’s such a nice place to spend the time in hot weather. The parking lot gets busy later in the day so it’s better to come early in the morning. The washroom is located at the parking lot, so go to the washroom first before you leave the parking lot.
A peaceful walk through the forest with well maintained trails and good viewpoints to the river. In March when we went, especially after recent rains, the water level was quite high so we couldn't see many potholes.
Nice walks to the potholes, lots of parking and the trails are well marked. There's a cool bunch of artwork grafitti on the old hotel, unfortunately behind a fence. That sucks. But still, you can see a lot.
Loved the time spent here. The more you look the more you see. Rocks, wildlife and the true power of water. Be cautious any time of year during heavy rain as the Sooke River runs high and fast when flooding as evidenced by the massive driftwood jams scattering the carved out banks. Bring your camera and sense of adventure here.
This park is so interesting! We spent 2 days checking it out recently and didn't see all we wanted to. Great trails, beautiful waterfalls, neat looking "potholes" worth a visit for sure.
This was a pretty walk! I don't think I found the "potholes" I always see people sitting at but the walk was beautiful. There was a lot to look at, I'm pretty sure I can stop in again and see something new!
Parking was affordable, not too busy in the morning. Pretty cold! Saw what we’re pretty sure were juvenile salmon in the water! : Water is as deep as 8.1m 27ft in some places!
Great place to take in some epic views of Sooke river and the surrounding mountains and forests. Great place to go for a walk, picnic, swim. There are some very steep cliffs and fast currents in areas so be mindful of children and animals! Restrooms: Restrooms at the different parking areas Dog-friendliness: Lots of trails!
This is a short nice place for quick hike. Did not see much here, the cell network is pretty bad here so better plan your route before coming here. The spot has water flowing and there is not much of interest.
So amazing here. Went during the first week of October and despite this being main tourist attraction there wasn't an overwhelming amount of people. Lots of beautiful trails, waterfalls, and shallow strams. Bears are fishing for salmon right now.
