One of the most beautiful areas within easy driving range of Victoria. Be sure to bring a bathing suit, even though the water is cold. Hike the Coast Trail if you are ready for a more challenging hike with lots of ups and downs. The views are spectacular.
A great hike along the ocean. I would say it's a medium difficulty hike. Lots of rocks to walk over so wear proper hiking boots. Some parts require you to climb up and down bigger rocks.
Amazing views, trails and wildlife. Worth taking a weekend to enjoy all the coastal outdoor experience this park has to offer. Animals and plants are abundant and varied and the ocean provides constant new things to see on the shore.
Beautiful trail along the coast. Can be challenging over rocks. You'll need hiking shoes.
This park is amazing. Fields, forest and beaches. It's view of the Olympic mountains is hard to beat. Worth checking out if you've never been. 10/10.
The coastal trail is a treat for your eyes and mind. I enjoyed it so much that I can go there again and again.
Aylard Farm! What a wonderful name and a unique place!! Tiny pebble beaches and white fine sand beaches with good shades. Forests and gorgeous coastal lines are bonuses for your family. I discovered an amazing Orange coloured agate at a little beach near Creyke Point for my bride.
Westcoast Therapy The bay is an easy 1.5km walk from the parking lot and doesn't disappoint with the sound of waves lapping the shore and a view across the Strait, and the beautiful Secretary Donaldson Island off Sooke Point. Rain or shine...a must visit.
Great spot to go for a hike or day at the beach. The network of trails is very well maintained main routes and cover dozens of kilometers. Some of the routes will offer some fairly steep elevation. Come prepared with water as there are very little resupply spots on the trail unless you have a filtering system with you. There are well maintained and clean washrooms at all main access parking lots and Allard farm access is near a sandy beach, a rare thing to find on the Southern Vancouver Island near Victoria. Be prepared to enjoy amazing Mountain views, bald eagles, the occasional sea life roving near the shoreline, some ancient petroglyphs, and your fair share of Arbutus trees. The Allard farm beach area can get crowded on week ends, so I recommend showing up early.
Great hike. Easy, flat & short walk to Iron Mine bay.
