**ALERT** Today I finally got a real person and he was very nice, what I had to do to reach this office is ridiculous, AND what I learned, everyone should know.....I have been on disability for several years. I always wanted to be a productive, self-sufficient member of our society. I had just been hired and was trying to report an attempt at the Trial Work Program which I found online. The SS Office hours are definitely only for those who are no longer working: 9-4 M, T, Th, Fri., Wed 9-12, WOW, how I would love to work those hours and get a federal salary and benefits. After several attempts calling and after sending a letter, they still did not have my work starting information AND **ALERT** in that one previous phone call, I was informed that my pay, although continuing to be taxed for SS, would NOT increase my SS retirement benefit AT ALL because my RETIREMENT BENEFIT WAS FROZEN WHEN I OPENED MY "TEMPORARY" DISABILITY CLAIM. I asked for short term disability, as I needed 2 hip replacement surgeries and some recovery time. I was NEVER INFORMED that this would PERMANENTLY AFFECT my SS RETIREMENT PAYMENT FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE... SO the hours are not "user friendly" as a Federal Service Agency AND the system is rigged in a way you will not be informed. SO BEWARE!

I recently sent them my original birth certificate and marriage license in the mail to get my last name changed. Over a month later they finally send them back and both documents are ripped in half, and the envelope they came in was barely closed. This envelope contained all my personal information and they send it in an envelope that is halfway open and not properly sealed. Do not send your stuff here!
