Highly recommend visiting, if you're looking for some street food. The great part is that the admission is free so it's easily accessible compared to other food festivals in the city. The best time to visit would be the early afternoon hours or morning as there would be more food options in stock. Most vendors take card but still a good idea to bring some cash. If you're coming into Downtown, the public transit near Union is the best option especially since parking around this area is quite expensive.
The offers seem to change every week. It's good if you like street food and to try new varieties you may not have tried before. It needs more places with shade, but there are a few benches nearby too. There were about 12 small businesses serving Mexican, Caribbean, Thai, and Indian cuisine. Porta pottys and a bar. Nice to stop by when visiting the Lakeshore
Based on what's advertised by the organizers, my expectations were a little higher, but the number of vendors and the vibe overall was underwhelming. They had some great vendors, so nothing against any of them, and I think more could have been done by those organizing the event to draw more traffic for those small businesses just trying to make a living and/or a name for themselves! What we tried was yummy, so kudos to those vendors, but given that not much was happening, we left pretty quickly. Parking around the area was insane not uncommon for that area and during the busy summer months, so either take public transportation, park farther, or expect to pay $20-40 for closer parking.
Beware of the time you go – it's probably best to go as early as possible in the day to avoid being disappointed by the different vendors running out of food. Went around a week or two ago around 3/4PM and most of the vendors were already sold out. I was really excited, but I guess I'll have to reattempt on another weekend. The vendors I was able to order from had really delicious food.
Very thoughtfully curated food festival with representation from around the world, exclusively small local businesses which is so rare at food festivals these days. Arriving for 11am is recommended so you beat the rush but also not risk being disappointed when vendors are sold out. Need to keep in mind that the vendors don't have an endless supply of food and ingredients, they have a small booth with as much as they could carry so be kind, be understanding, be supportive and enjoy traveling the world via food.
Street food fest, first time in TO. I had been to the one in NY. This is a smaller version without the umbrella of awe inspiring buildings but the lake added beauty to the food. The food is diverse and worth trying. Pl do not go hungry as the line ups are long and slow.
Horrible experience. Had to inform the organizers there was no trash bin around. Only had about 15 kiosks or so. Mosts were cathering businesses. No special food worth mentionning
Round 1 and 2 of @Smorgasburgtoronto has been epic! Organised to perfection by @landonlogieevents with plenty of seating and right on the picturesque Queens Quay waterfront to cool you down on a scorching Toronto Saturday. With no entry fee and affordable, creative menu options, this event is a joy to attend. We loved the brilliantly curated vendor list by CBC's food writer, who also hosts food tours @suresh featuring mom and pop restaurants and allowing access to pop up chefs without actual locations, serving up their trendy, delectable, Instagramable delights. So looking forward to next year with an ALL NEW lineup of mom and pop restaurants and chefs showcasing their creative craving-causing cultural family recipes. We hope this world class food festival will be an annual Toronto event encouraging local talent and revitalizing Toronto's summer street food scene. The foodie vids and pics speak for themselves.
Really enjoyed this flea market curated by Suresh Doss. It really showcased the talents this city has to offer. Also allowed people to discover eateries that are all over the GTHA, from St Catharines to Scarborough. Most vendors accepted cards. Can't wait for it to happen againfingers crossed!
Amazing food festival! No entry fee and the most diverse group of vendors I've ever seen in one location. This really showcases the amazing food diversity the GTA offers. Everything I tried was delicious and the vendors were super friendly explaining their dishes and drinks. You don't want to miss this!
