I started through the Rideau River system in Ottawa, my experience with the Parks Canada locks staff has been fantastic. At each lock that I went through I thought the staff could not be kinder, more helpful, more considerate of the publics needs. At every lock, staff has gone out of their way to be helpful and considerate. If every government department operated in the same way Canada would be such a better place. I don’t know who recruits staff for Parks Canada but they should be recruiting for all departments. Customer service is Parks Canada‘s top priority and they’re doing a fantastic job. The lock and mooring Pass is one of the few great deals left in the world, the service we get for a minimal cost is unbelievable. Not that I want to see the prices raised. let’s encourage everyone to get out, use and enjoy the system. I’m now at lock 29 and still have many to go but the consistency of the service has been phenomenal so I’m confident the rest of the journey will be as pleasant as it has been this far.

Very nice area to walk around and see the town

I was a bit disappointed to see that the new locks, which seem to be built right beside the original ones, are operated with electricity and hydraulics. Modern times meet 1832. I guess it was inevitable. They've done a wonderful job with the surrounding area. Nice trees and lovely, colorful foliage.

Awesomely helpful Parks Canada staff gave us genuinely interested advice that completely transformed our day. Locking us through the largest lock on the Rideau was a fine culmination to a hard 23 km paddle

Beautiful area to watch boats go through the locks....also super picnic stop on way to Ottawa
