TODAY I went there to make an appointment, A sweet and nice colorful hair lady greeted me and I told her I have everything and my trip was book for September 1st. She said Since you are well organized You are in luck come in and wait for an officer. Inside 15 people were seated. Water FREE and of course some Karen's complained about people going for LUNCH and not too many officers . I was like what's wrong with humanity. I was there and wait and avoid conversations with male Karen and female next to me. I waited maybe 1hr seating and drinking water. Finally my turn a sweet and nice officer verified my documents FIRST time passport and she asked my trip date and voila passport will be ready 1 day prior. I came back to thank the great service and told the officer what an amazing process I experienced. I'll go tomorrow again for my partner passport.
6 a.m. first line, before you enter the building, wait outside, take a chair and umbrella, there is nowhere to hide if there is a rain. 7 a.m. enter the building, wait for the Service Canada rep to give you a sticker red - highest priority, blue - second to high, then yellow, then white, some get drop-off coupons - not sure what it is, but they are also at high priority, this look to be non-emergency line, perhaps just dropping the papers or rescheduled 8:30 a.m. office opens, red tickets get in around 25 people. 12 :30 p.m. all blue people get in around 30 people. Yellow and white probably not served this day I was blue and served among the last Everyone who gets into the office not the building gets served the same day. The sooner you are served, the higher chance of getting the passport the same day. I got served around 5 p.m. even when the office hours says they are closed at 4 p.m., thanks for staying late whoever stayed ! Picking up the passport the next day. Thursday is the bussiest day, to save time, you better come 24 hours before the flight, you’ll get a red ticket and be among 20-30 first people in line. But it might be a bit risky if there are too many reds. So up to you, feel safe and get in 2 days before or save time and get in 24 hours before the flight. 48 hours - prepare to stay till the end of the day, have some snacks, tea and so on.
This branch is fast and organized, and the staff is very helpful and dedicated. I've never been disturbed here other than what the negative reviews say. In everything I needed, such as obtaining government papers or issuing a new passport for my son, all that I did here did not take any time.
Submitted application to renew child's passport in person in March 2022. Our travel plans is on July 24. Received a letter dated early May which we received 3 weeks from the date of the letter stating that they can't find the guarantor requesting us to re-submit the application form. They gave us 30 days to reply. Amazing how it takes them 3 weeks to send a letter within Canada. Received a call on June 30 saying they found our guarantor but we would have to submit new passport photos this was not mentioned in their letter in May. The officer on the phone said she was in BC and the quickest way is to submit the photos in person and it would take one more week to get our passport. completed this on the same day. We received nothing in a week and so we called. This officer said the application is in ON and confirmed that they have got the new photo. He stated its not going to make it in time. We would have to pay extra to switch it to an urgent application. They will call us between July 20-22 to pick up passport. As of now, there is no news of the whereabouts of our kid's passport. It is frustrating the time its takes them to complete these applications not to mention the extra effort and money they make us go through for getting to try and get our passport. No wonder there is a huge backlog for these.
My husband and I arrived at 6:45 AM on Wednesday, Aug 10 and was out by 9:30. We both had to renew an expired passport; we completed the form at home and made sure everything was in order to the best of our knowledge. The staff checked the forms and took the payment; I was advised of the approximate date the passports will be mailed out to me by registered mail. Here is a big thank you to ALL the staff from the Security to the staff that reviewed our documents. We were treated with respect and we appreciated how smooth the process was considering the volume involved. Thank you!
Showed up at 6:45AM for my sons passport which we submitted via mail in Aug. No comms since then on passport status. Was first of 10 in line. Around 7:45 line grew to about 50 people. The security guards run the show here and tell you what to expect. Was given a green ticket, tickets go from red priority to blue, green. If you get a white ticket it puts you in a draw for when to be seen. From what I observed some people seemed to get through faster this way but you don’t have a choice what ticket assigned. Was asked when we travel and what I needed before given the green ticket. You are put into a holding area before even getting called to the waiting room of the actual passport office so would not judge how busy by no line up outside. Was about 4 hours total to get status on my sons passport and next steps. In general an OK experience, they had water and a clear organized system. As long as you’re prepared to wait it’s fine. Not sure if going early helped or not, as others have noted it’s hard to say.
Was very organized, I arrived at 6.30am and was 2nd in line. They let you in the building at 7am and put you in a waiting room. Officials come in at 7.45am to assess everyone around 75 people and give coloured tickets to everyone, blue priority and white for standard. People with appointments get a purple ticket I think and they are brought somewhere else. I was 1st in line with a blue ticket my documents were fully completed and have a flight in less than two weeks I got served at 8.30am and finished at 8.45am Staff was very friendly.
I felt like they are trying their best to provide service to the applicants. Not sure why some people are complaining about their service. I was lined up by 6:40am at about 10th position. I was so grateful that they took us inside the building by 7:00am so that we don’t need to stay standing at cold. They sorted out the applicants by travel dates. I was all done by 9am which was beyond my expectations.
I would highly recommend coming between 11am and Noon! I arrived at 815AM and and am still waiting in line in the first of 2 rooms it is now 1230. If I would have arrived around 11 or 12, I would be spending far less of my time here as the first room is almost cleared out maybe 30 people now as opposed to the 100 at 830am. Also- the system in which the officers are keeping people organized is actually hilarious and speaks to the organization of everything federal in our country: laughable. I was convinced they were paid actors to cause even more anxiety and stress than what already comes with applying for a passport. Their system could be so much better and more organized! Mind blowing.
Very well organized. You still need to wear a mask to get in the office. Efficient and polite staff. Came at 9:30 for a pick up and there was no line up outside the office. For people applying for passport, the seating line inside the office was moving fast even though the website was saying 3 hours wait.
