PARENTS BEWARE.nnOn November 5th, 2025, around 9:00 AM, I visited the Shoppers Drug Mart Pharmacy at North Hill to fill a steroid prescription for my 16-month-old who was dealing with croup. What I received was a 50 mL steroid elixir containing alcohol, an amount that immediately felt unsafe for a toddler to ingest.nnTrusting my instincts, I called Alberta Children’s Brexall Pharmacy for a second opinion. They advised me to return immediately and request a refund, stating that this formulation contained far too much alcohol for a child that young, and that the prescribing pharmacist should have known not to dispense it. They also advised that this prescription should have been sent to a compounding pharmacy, which aligns with what pharmacists in my own family later confirmed.nnWhen I originally questioned the pharmacist about the safety of giving this amount of liquid and alcohol to a 16-month-old, he responded by asking me to “do the mental math” to check his calculation, and insisted he was simply giving what the pediatrician prescribed. As someone with pharmacists in the family, this was alarming, pharmacists are trained to recognize when a formulation is inappropriate for a child and escalate accordingly.nnWhen I returned to the pharmacy to get a refund and the prescription back so I could take it elsewhere, I was met with aggression and defensiveness. The pharmacist asked if I was “questioning his profession,” when all I was trying to do was get the prescription back so my son could receive the correct medication quickly and avoid a hospital visit. Ultimately, another staff member processed the refund, and I left with the prescription to have it safely prepared at a compounding pharmacy.nnThis experience was frightening as a parent. I normally trust pharmacists without hesitation, but in this case, something felt wrong and I’m grateful I sought another opinion. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this pharmacy for parents or anyone needing careful, critical assessment of a prescription, especially for a child.nnIf Shoppers would like to reach out, I’m happy to provide documentation
I am writing this review to commend one of your employees, Martha, who vastly exceeded my expectations today.  She was extremely patient listening to my questions with purchasing an electronics item, and went above and beyond with addressing my concerns in an honest and straightforward manner.nnFront line staff are at the forefront of a customer's experience, and employees like Martha are an invaluable asset to the organization.nnI'll make it a point to frequent this location more often, and I hope to cross paths again with Martha in the future.  An absolutely amazing experience, and the best interaction I have ever had at a Shoppers Drug Mart.
Its about clinic not pharmacy. I came for consultation after work, there were two doors open with Doctors or whoever it was sitting inside. I waited for 10 min none of them came out, but were just sitting on a phone scrolling. So i came in into the office and asked if anyone could help. On which some women appeared to be middle eastern decided to help, a made a prescription of injections with intention to administer it today. She gave me a prescription and asked to refill it at the pharmacy. Which i did and was waiting for lady to come out and call me for injection. But instead she just closes the door and left. Without saying a single word!!! Absolutely unprofessional person who should be fired from that place. I never seen such an ignorance. Just stood up, closed the door and left. At least she could have said a word - Hey i am leaving or something. NADA! But i do want to appreciate young African American lady who took upon herself to administer the injection despite that being not her job. Long story short - complete incompetence from the clinic staff.
Booked a travel vaccine appointment a week in advance. Arrived 5 minutes before and was told it would be 30 minutes because the pharmacist was on break. The receptionist didn’t seem to care at all or have any customer service skills. Would not recommend.
The male Pharmacist who answered the phone was highly rude and hung up on me saying I wasn't listening when he told me to call and press 4 for customer seevice . I asked to br tranferered to the fromt in question about the return spend 60$ get 20k points . When he didnt listen to me when I explained ive been on hold for over 35 minutes on my lunch break when I click 4 I just wait on hold . So he hung up . He also stated I can not bring an item back but I called another shoppers location and was told they can return an item from the aisles ITS UNOPENED AND BOUGHT 2 DAYS AGO I still have the receipt.nnTHE MALE Pharmacist at this location said we are a drug mart and even things in the aisle if they are drug related cant be returned UNOPENED. and you can not bring drugs back to a drug mart, its a OTC when I clearly stated its a stomach thing like tums ect but my mother cant ingest something in there which I didnt know . I dont mind store credit so I dont lose the 20k points earned . But he said he cant transfer and he made the decision himself to not take back the product before even seeing it .He was super rude
