I went for dinner here with my friends. It is a good place for vegeterian food. We ordered a dip for combined appetizer and separate orders for dinner. The bread that came with appetizer was just out of this world. Really soft and full of flavour. I ordered the eggplant schnitzel for my main. It was really tasty. Serving size was also pretty good. Looking at my friends food serving size looked pretty good as well and they liked their order as well. Customer service was also pretty good. I think the only small thing was that the food was a little pricey for being vegetarian food. But I guess because of the ambience and location this much price is expected.
Excellent service, delicious food and awesome spot overall! We went for brunch and all our dishes were fresh and super tasty. The big windows around and open concept kitchen also add a nice touch, creating a great atmosphere.
This was an AMAZING experience. I would say this restaurant is in my top 10. The food is delicious, the tea is just exquisite, and I really had a great time here. The customer service was good, nice staff. I'd only suggest to the waiters/waitresses not to ask every 5 minutes if we need something, can feel overwhelmed. More than that, it is Excellent
I was presently surprised to learn that this place was vegetarian. Without having to worry about my dietary restrictions, ordered the chef’s selection. It was more than enough dishes to fill you up, and still had more for takeaway. The food was good, not great. It was very much open concept, you can see the chefs in the kitchen right across from the tables. Which is cool in its own way. Docking one star for the ambiance. The actual table we got seemed more like a stool, and when all of the plates started coming out from the chef’s selection the servers barely had a place to put them, so some were hanging off the tables. Also they were very tight together. If you had a party of 3-4 then you’re guaranteed a nice bigger table, likely with a velvet lined bench. However if you’re only 2 people they crammed you together that if you were to get up, you’d hit the person behind and beside you. By the end of the night I couldn’t hear the guest across from me at all, and my throat ended up being sore from the shouting. I will add though, the server and waitstaff were incredible attentive, and took our comments and suggestions to heart. PS, don’t order the feta olives, they are incredibly salty. Do get the eggplant schnitzel, and falafel, and chocolate mousse.
It's been a while since I last did a review but this place was great! It's not always easy to find a brunch place that takes reservations and this one would be worth the wait even if it didn't. The shakshouka was amazing but it's the fresh pita that it comes with that really elevates it! You don't even realize it's vegetarian because every dish is so well done and balanced.
Shook is a great place to dine! The interiors are very earthy and rustic and the space has a very traditional market vibe to it! Their selection of music is really ambient and complementary with the interior design. The food is delicious - well presented and flavourful. I had stuffed olives, pita bread-muhammara and wild mushroom kreplach. Everything so good! The pita bread was fresh out of the oven and it was very soft! The open style kitchen is such a pleasure to watch and waiting for food never felt boring! I would definitely recommend it to anyone who would like to try Middle East inspired cuisine!
This restaurant is in a very hip area and the interior was very nice. The music was quite loud and we had to speak at the top of our voice in order to be able to hear each other at the table. We ordered the Sangria which was 40 bucks for 4 servings and it was a tiny jar. It was overpriced for the amount. We ordered the Mutabal and it only comes with 1 bread. Since we were 5 at the table, we ordered 4 more and each piece of bread was $3. That’s also over priced. The dip is quite a good portion and tasted very good but the dip to bread proportion was not proportional. For the main course, I ordered the dumplings and I did not like the taste. It was $22 and I couldn’t get through the whole meal. My friend ordered the shakshuka which was oily. The eggplant schnitzel was good and a big portion. My total bill came up to over $50 and I don’t think it was a great bang for the buck.
Found this place because I was looking for something other than meat. I love Middle Eastern food so this place for the bill. The ambiance is casual and very cool. There is a nice big open kitchen. The cocktails were really good and made fast. The food was very good but some dishes has a bit too much sauce for my taste. That is personal so don’t judge. Expect to pay a premium but if you are looking for non meat options. Worth a try.
I have been to Shook multiple times within the last month and the food/drinks never disappoints! The quality remains consistent, the service is always top-notch and the ambience/vibe of the place is always clean, beautiful and pleasant to be around. If you are looking for a great brunch place, or somewhere to just read your book while you enjoy a creamy cup of latte, please visit this place! You won’t be disappointed!
By far, one of the most outstanding dining experiences I have had in a very long time. In fact, I have stopped dining out, especially since Covid because the food quality in most establishments has diminished considerably. As I have owned my own catering company for years, I am quite a discerning customer. Last evening was an epicurean delight to say the least. The food was exceptional in every aspect starting from the creativity, visual presentation and finally the taste. Each dish was better than the last. The servers were friendly and quite knowledgeable aswell, adding to our dining experience. My only regret was that we dined on the patio rather than indoors. I had an opportunity to go inside and was equally impressed by the open kitchen and the beauty of the decor, simply stunning. My only suggestion is that the patio needs to be beautified to capture the true essence of your establishment. It definitely does not have the curb appeal to have drawn me in, given I drive by at least four times a week. Had it not been for a friend who insisted we have dinner at Shook, I was not at the least bit curious given the lack of curve appeal. First impressions are powerful attractors. Anyhow, I rarely write reviews unless I am blown away by the whole dining experience and this one definitely deserved my time!! Congratulations from start to finish and for those considering where to spend your hard earned dollars, this is definitely the place! Prepare to be AMAZED!! Your raving fan, Eleni.
