The food is so-so. It's Grand Forks good enough, I guess. I've never ever had to pay extra to have my noodles spicy. Medium is one price, and hot is another price. Especially for $18 a bowl. You can get ramen, a salad, and an appetizer for $14 at other places...and it is WAY better. We had our daughter order her own food. She said it right, and even pointed to the menu. The rest of our food came out except hers. When it did come out, it was wrong. The lady argued with us. We know what we ordered. We know what she eats. Instead of owning the fact they brought the wrong noodles...she exhibited a very poor attitude and argued with us. She's lucky I didn't have the family exit the restaurant immediately after experiencing my daughter nearly cry thinking she did something wrong. It was definitely my prevailing thought. 18% gratuity automatically added in. Then, the receipt they have you sign asks for a tip...even though the price already has the 18% in it. My wife caught that as I was about to leave a tip because you did provide some service. It wasn't good service, but it was service. If only you could leave a negative tip...
Always so delicious! Every dish I’ve eaten here has been so filling and tasty. The cooks know how to season things and the portions don’t leave you hungry at all.
Great atmosphere, quiet and kind service. Sushi and other good options.
The food is amazing. The portions are American. The prices are fair. I'm coming here again! Overall it's been a fantastic, comfortable experience. We got watered right away and our sushi order was placed within five minutes. They have a real sushi chef and it was amazing! We are it at a slow pace, even though we wanted to scarf it down. We ordered or food and anxiously waited for it to arrive. Ready for another small bowl of rice with mast on top. What we got was each a plate full of our respective dishes played beautifully and cooked perfectly. Not the typical heavy sauced plate... It's perfect. First bites send shivers down my spine. The udon is perfect. The flavors blend in an expert way. Everything is cooked through... best Japanese I've ever had in North Dakota. My wife... Let's just say foodgasms are real. Definitely coming back often, not just for events.
Food is absolutely amazing, but DO NOT EVER dine in here and please ONLY ORDER TAKEOUT!!! Lady is incredibly rude and has the worst service I've ever experienced. Even with takeout orders, she will call your number and barrade you on when you are coming in. Please don't reward her behavior. Please only do takeout!Food: 5/5
Great food. Worth the money, best restaurant in Grand Forks. Big portions and largest sushi rolls in town. There’s one waitress in particular who is absolutely fantastic. My husband and I go on Thursdays so that she’s working! Pretty, poised, and very attentive. We had a good laugh watching her sit down and then leap up again every minute to get our food!. The female owner serves most other days and is endearing but very brisk and neurotic. The Thursday waitress balances her out well and my family feels very comfortable and Shing Ya.The other waiter i’ve encountered is also friendly and great! Amazing place and pricey but definitely the bang for your buck for the happy and delicious experience. Best in Grand Forks!
Server was attentive. Food was very good and portions were large. Will definitely go back. Parking: Limited parking close to the restaurant.
They went off our radar during Covid but were happy to see they were still in business says something there so we stopped in Saturday night after a movie. GLAD WE DID! They weren't too busy and our waiter was very friendly. Ordered Sushi and 2 entrees - took a little while but got the impression there were only 2 people working so it was okay - we weren't in a rush. The Sushi came first and was very good but our two Fried Soba entrees were fantastic! My wife likes extra spicy and I like medium but both dishes were spiced perfectly and very tasty. They even made her fried tofu although it wasn't on the menu so that's cool. Very nice people - great food experience - If you haven't tried give them a shot! We'll be back for sure!!
* FOLLOWED out of the store AND DEMANDED I LEAVE A TIP* Our meal was good, no complaint there. Issue was with the server. Everything was extremely awkward. I didn't order miso soup yet it was brought to our table and of course I paid for it. I requested chopsticks and soysauce and was laughed at. The woman ended up chasing after us when we walked out after paying because I didn't check a box to tip. I've never in my adult life not tipped until today. Then was chased after to tip. This is not okay. Steer clear. This was ridiculous. Her demeanor was sharp, rude, and abrupt. I didn't tip. She followed me as I walked to my car to demand I check a box on the ticket for a tip. As someone in the service industry, my mind is blown.
The food was fine. The service was horrible. The absolute rudest lady I have ever experienced. I have never been felt to be such an inconvenience for someone in my life. We ordered an appetizer to start. She didn’t like that we wanted to start with an appetizer and she refused to put it in until we were ready to order everything. When we told her we need another minute to order, she huffed at us. When she came back we asked a couple basic questions “is this one spicy?” She responded “it says heart attack” … lol okay. When we asked for another minute she said she got harsh and said she had other customers! If I wasn’t here with a coworker I would have walked out. When I asked to keep the menu after I ordered she literally told me no. I said I would like to keep it and she said the table was too small for me to keep it. Literally every request was a fight. God forbid we were to ask for both chopsticks and silverware. Horrible. Horrible service. I will never be back
