Shine Valley Lamb Soup
"Shine Valley Lamb Soup started as a small food court stall back in 2015. After tremendous success and popularity, we decided to open up our first restaurant in Vancouver, BC. Starting with only 4 staple dishes on our menu, we have now grown to be one of the only restaurants that serve a wide range of authentic Northern Chinese food.To us, Shine Valley Lamb Soup is not just a business. It is the perfect chance for us to showcase and share our culture through traditional, delicious and tasty food."

The baked cake sugar was tasty but a bit dry; the soup was light and suitable for summer time; mix lamb pluck was a refreshing dish with a pinch of spice; the tendon was so tough that we couldn’t consume; the tongue tasted like beef and was lack of flavour but we did enjoy the texture; the highlight was definitely the rack, perfectly cooked and seasoned, will come back for it. All in all, this restaurant doesn’t season the dishes heavily but instead they bring out the odor from the lamb itself which is brilliant because lamb does have a sophisticated flavour and aroma.
The lamb soup here so so good! It's delicious and comes with a pastry. It's great for winter because it makes you feel so warm inside too. Got a spicy lamb dish and that was super tasty as well. Very flavourful and the meat was soft. Seems a little pricy for the portion but everything tasted so good, I'd return regardless.
We went there yesterday. The prices increased a lot, 45% for the lam soup as it used to be 19.99 the same size in early 2021. That’s inflation I get it, but the amount of soup shrink as you can see. These pictures are taken before we start eating. The size of meat in “Grill Lamb” is smaller than the spices, and there is hardly any in there, we were so disappointed. We talked to the owner / female server about this, saying we came before and we had the same dish, I made it express that we are not looking for price reduction or anything, just want to make a comment. She INSISTS my memory was wrong and we should have ordered the other dish lamb steak, refused to listen to us. Not to mention they barely have any service. The two cakes are supposed to be served with the soup but they came last, after we ASKED!! The 6 chicken knee skewers also came last after we ASKED about it… my friends asked for 2 cup of iced water b/c the lamb dish is too spicy, and of course they never came. We paid without leaving a tip, the service doesn’t deserve one. - - - - - - - - Just want to tell everyone leaving tip is NOT IN THE LAW. They can’t tip-shame you like the few comments I read below. Feel free to leave $0 if you find their service sucks!!
If you are looking for the place to eat lamb, here is definitely your choice! Soup and meat are sooooooo tasty! Service is good as well! Love this restaurant so much! Will always come back here
I first came here for dinner after hearing about their leg of lamb with bone marrow Stew Sauced Lamb Leg Bone. However, they ran out of that so I opted for one of their well known items as recommended by the server - Lamb Soup for one with Tripe Soup Base and Sugar Cake Shaobing. Since then, I also tried their Lamb Skewers and Chicken Heart Skewers both at Medium Spice Level, their Stir Fried Diced Bone-in Lamb with Bay Leaf, and their Red Bean Shaobing. The shaobing was definitely a good surprise as they were very crispy and the sugar one stood out the most as it had an excellent level of sweetness and I was thankful that the server recommended this filling. It was something that I could just keep on eating. As for the lamb soup, it was very aromatic. It came with tripe, cabbage, glass vermicelli/noodles, green onion, cilantro, and a couple of wolfberries. The soup itself was very soothing as it was rich, had enough flavour, but not at all strong nor overwhelming. The tripe had a good flavour, was tender, but still had a nice chew to it. I am not a typical fan of glass noodles but it went really well with the soup as it brought out an umami flavour. The cabbage, green onion, and cilantro all added extra levels to the soup - crunch and refreshing flavour from the cabbage, and aromatic smell and flavour from the cilantro and green onions. In terms of the skewers, the lamb was very tender, juicy, and had a good spice level at medium. The chicken heart still had a bit of the organ metallic flavour but was tender, crunchy and juicy. Perhaps it would be better at Strong spice level. The stir fried lamb was crispy as it was nicely fried first, was flavourful with a nice level of spice to it, and included good pieces of lamb. Other than the food itself was the restaurant’s decor and service. I really enjoyed the decor and atmosphere at the restaurant. Looking out the window on this second floor restaurant made it a lot more pleasant and calming with the restaurant and table decoration and plating. Service was another highlight at the restaurant. The server was very friendly and welcoming. For me, she offered solutions to selecting spice level such as adding more spice after if needed if it’s not spicy enough and suggesting that I may have ordered too much when I was leaning to ordering more. In general, she did not urge people to leave but rather offered another cup of tea and said that they should warm up fully before leaving. One of the notable things was that she brought out a cup for the delivery person too. Overall, the food, decor, and service made it a very immersive and enjoyable experience
A great place to have Chinese lamb cruising. It can get a bit expensive though. If you are a first timer, try to get one of the four recommended lamb dishes on their menu. Also try their soup with the bun. Their lamb skewers are also delicious :p
Planned to eat at another place but the queue was long, this was my back up. I feel ashamed it was my back up and not my first choice The restaurant decor is really nice, the food even better. The signature lamb soup was so light, fragrant and nourishing. The side dishes that come with the soup were fresh and tasty. The stir fried lamb was perfect, I think they stew/boil the lamb before they fry with sauce so it’s super tender, lamb bone can get tough if quick fried. Not too spicy actually/unfortunately? so make sure to ask if you really like spicy. The cold aubergine salad was very savoury and refreshing i didn’t expect much. Overall the whole meal was really good. One side note for management - the main lamb dish was warm but not really hot. If you pre-cook things, please make sure they are piping hot before you serve it. I’ll be back!
The soup dishes were a bit under-seasoned but the spicy lamb dish was perfect. Pretty authentic and good service.
Their signature lamb soup is good. Also tried the lamb liver, cold lamb dish and lamb skewers. All lamb lunch. Try it out. The service was also good.
Great food and excellent customer service! Whole lamb BBQ is amazing! Great customer server specially "little bear"
