Was in the area and saw this newly open restaurant just opened up , wanted to come and try it out, food and pricing it’s pretty decent with a good portion for what they’re giving. The service was pretty good, chef and one of the server was really kind and giving out recommendations for me as there are a lot of varieties to pick from, they seems pretty friendly. Overall the experience it’s very welcoming with the new renovation and decor. Overall I’ll prob come and check this place again and try other food as I came pretty late when closing. It close at 12 am
The four stars rating is for its afternoon tea menu. Tried out Shine Kitchen for it’s afternoon tea on a weekday, the restaurant was not too busy and there was no line up. They have an extensive menu and it comes with a premium drink without additional charge. It comes with either a cold red bean drink, a frozen pineapple drink or any cold drink with no extra cost. You can also order some add on item for $3.88 each which is pretty good value. The restaurant appears clean, the staffs are polite and the tables aren’t too close to each other. Food portion and quality are okay. We will revisit again if we are in the neighborhood!
I heard this is a nice place with affordable combos. I came here for afternoon tea sets. They have many choices and combinations. The food was fresh and yummy. It was good for value. The restaurant seating was spacious and comfy. Will go back to try other seafood dishes on their menu.
Best traditional cantonese stile Chinese food in the Scarborough area. Great service ...fresh food and clean atmosphere. We celebrate the New Year here and boy what a surprise, excelente food, delicious taste and good portion serving. All the servers are friendly and happy to help you choose with a big smile. Amazing Lobster.. super noodles. Love it
Dinner for four, weekend, waiting time around 20minutes, Dinner combo. Soup was awesome, out of four dishes, two are about average, two are great. We added a salted fish and chicken fried rice, not bad at all.Food: 4/5
Craving for Peking Duck over Thanksgiving weekend. We usually ordered from Mr. Congee at Bridlewood Mall, but I was hoping to try some other restaurants for a change. That's how we came across Shine Kitchen. Their menu is very much similar to Mr. Congee. Peking Duck is about the same price, also with same option Peking Duck set + duck soup OR stir fried duck meat. We ordered a Peking Duck combo, crab with ginger & green onion and boiled shrimps. Not only the menu, even the tastes are about the same. The crab was just a tiny bit smaller than Mr. Congee's. But for Peking Duck combo they included 3 containers of duck soup !!! while Mr. Congee only included 2. Very impressive. While the food itself was great, I had problem with their service. I ordered on their website. First, there's no option to choose from regarding duck soup OR stir fried duck meat, so I thought it's a fixed set of combo I'm happy with either one anyway. Also, they didn't let me know when my order will be ready. When I was there at the restaurant approx. 30 mins after placing the order, I was asked to choose from duck soup or stir fried duck meat. I was shocked. I told them I didn't see any option online. Their replied was, " You shouldn't order from the website. You should call us." Okay... so it's my fault !? But they had my phone number. When they noticed I didn't pick any option, shouldn't they call me to confirm first? I ended up having to wait an extra 20 - 30 mins for my order to be ready. And when my order was ready, the staff brought everything and just dropped it on the seat at the entrance, then left. It was 3 bags and one tin foil tray. She didn't even bother to ask me if I was ok carrying them all. I was there by myself. I walked out with my hands full. Thanks to the nice people who helped opening the doors and made ways for me on the way, I managed to reach my car safely. The service alone is the reason I would not visit Shine Kitchen again. I can find the same food else where. Shine Kitchen is not the only restaurant. I came across many restaurants that claim to have online order available on their website, but actually unusable or lack of certain options that caused confusion. To all restaurants: Please don't offer online order if it's not fully functional. Please don't offer online order only because it looks good on your website.
One of the restaurants that are open pretty late 11 pm on Sunday which we were very thankful for! We ordered three dishes and split it four ways — they had big generous portions and it was very affordable. Turnip cake and fried rice were tasty. Service was also very friendly and quick! I’ll be interested in coming back to try the hot pot rice.
Good service, bright and clean decor, free sweet and sour pork with $88 purchase or above in June, good 'wok hei', I found a la carte menu better value than their combos, would definitely go back
Came here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. They are currently running a special for "mi xian" - rice noodles in soup and "yu tou bo" - salmon head in clay-pot. Both were excellent in price and quality. The environment is bright and clean although it could become a bit loud and hard to talk in times.
New Chinese Restaurant serving typical HK dishes - lobster, noodles, fried rice and tea. Added item is Hot pot tables on some smaller seating. I tried the Seafood udon soup which has unchewable curled cuttle fish. The chef's 'pride' is in not removing the inner skin - thus unchewable. The Fried chilli turnip patties, however, is commendable in taste but hardly any chilli. In all, there are better chef skills in other restaurants.
