Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge

I enjoy coming out to this WILDLIFE REFUGE and hope that it remains open so that people can see wildlife in there own habitat. Later in the early evening, seems like the animals have "gone to bed," although you will see some deer eating and maybe a handful of cranes "hanging out." I wish that a port-o-john would be available, maybe at the entrance or exit.

What an awesome hike! Mid-autumn and lots of color, and the wildlife was extraordinary. Plenty of White Tail Deer, migrating Sandhill Cranes, and several Muskrats!

Love love love this place! 1.5 hour drive for me but so worth it. So different from the typical michigan forest landscape - all marsh and grasses and canals. The 6.5 mile auto tour is a must. Go on a weekday when few people are there as the road is extremely narrow and there are very few pull offs. And you will want to pull off to see all the birds! One of my favorite places in michigan.

We went to purchase our $10 lifetime senior passes for all US Parks and wildlife refuges, and that was a very easy process. The rangers were super helpful and friendly. We took the time for the scenic wildlife drive which was wonderful. We are looking forward to more time here.

It's got to be one of the most relaxing places I've ever visited. A great place to unwind and enjoy the many wonders available for us. My mobility is limited, being able to drive my truck along the trail is great. I get to enjoy all the trills along the trail. Manny of the place available to park allows me assess to the viewing platforms.
