Shahi The Royal Roti

Worst Indian restaurant ever. Ordered butter chicken, it doesn't even remotely smell or look or taste like butter chicken. It's like the kind of Japanese pre-made curry that you can buy at grocery stores. What's worse, there's almost no meat. Just sauce and bread. This entire lump that you see in the photo is purely bread, I had to dig for tiny pieces of actual chicken. Intolerable.

Very few Indian restaurants really hit the mark with good Indian cuisine that is at a spice and flavor level representative of some of the more common foods from India. Shahi the royal roti meets that criteria pretty damn good. Staff were friendly and attentive and the service was really good. The atmosphere was pleasant and inviting. Will definitely be eating here again!!

Friendly staff! I was craving Biryani and ordered their chicken Biryani and the flavour was pretty good. Will definitely return to try their Roti. I will concur with other reviews that the chicken/protein quantity is disproportionate to the rice but I was pretty happy with the overall flavour. Quantity and portion was great but at almost $16 after tax they're competing with many restaurants and should have more protein mixed into the meal.

Great local spot for authentic Indian cuisine! Really yummy food made fresh for your order and with great service and fair prices. The roti servings are large and I always love having leftovers from my order!

Huge portions, and fast service. I've been here several times and I have not been disappointed with the roti here. It is conveniently located near Glencairn Subway Station. You can consider calling ahead for them to prepare your Roti so that you can pick it up when you arrive. There are plentiful vegetarian options. Owner is really friendly.

I was driving by on Marlee avenue to go to Lawrence mall. I never saw this hidden gem of a restaurant considering I pass by the area quite frequently. I was greeted by the cashier who was very pleasant, kind and helpful! I placed my order of veggie samosa, butter chicken roti and also mixed veggie curry roti. The whole meal was delicious! I will absolutely come here again. Thank you for making my experience a pleasant one!

Most amazing and tasty food ever. I must recommend that you should try this in your life. All the people working are so much lovable and sweet. I would like to mention Govind the most sweetest and very kind guy. He is much hardworking and I would appreciate to his kindness towards his work . I would be his loyal customer forever.

Butter Chicken Roti is always so delicious. Is not too much chicken, but is meant to be one person’s portion and is enough. The owner is always very attentive and provides excellent customer service. Will keep coming back!

I cycled 45 minutes in the rain to get here but it was worth it! The mutter paneer roti was beautifully spiced, generously served, and wrapped in a perfect pastry. It was so good I ate the whole thing and ordered lamb saag and butter chicken to go. The talented chef / owner was attentive and friendly. Definitely satisfies my cravings when I would like some Indian food nearby. I've tried their butter chicken roti, chicken jalfrezi roti, and their shahi paneer roti. All very good! Their pakora and mango lassi are SOOO good. I see some complaining about their butter chicken - the type they serve here may not feel like the butter chicken you're used to, but it is more akin to the style I've had in India. Not as sweet, but spicy and flavourful. The portions are quite big, so I normally ask for my roti on the aside as opposed to having the dish stuffed into the roti so it saves better to eat the next day. Another note - customer service here is excellent and everyone is very friendly.
