I arrived at 3:30 PM to request a copy of my SIN document. I was told there might not be enough time to serve me due to the number of people waiting, and I was even given unsolicited advice to 'come earlier in the morning.' It would have been perfectly reasonable to just stop accepting new arrivals once capacity was reached, but I chose to wait.nnAfter waiting for an hour, I was addressed by a male staff member who claimed my name wasn't on the list and told me to come back tomorrow. When I calmly asked, 'My name isn't on the waiting list?', he suddenly flew into a rage, stormed back to his desk, and aggressively shouted at me, asking for my name and accusing me of having left the premises. This was despite the fact that I had been sitting right in front of him for the entire hour.nnI told him that while I understood the situation, I am not his 'emotional trash can' and that he should keep his emotions to himself before I left. I will not visit this branch again. If a staff member cannot handle the simple question of whether a name was missed on a list without exploding in anger, it would be better for him—and the public—for him to stay home and rest. I am offering this unsolicited advice in return: I truly hope this fragile employee finds the rest and recovery he clearly needs.
Popped in to pick up passport renewal forms which I ended up needing to queue for. Although there were several people ahead of me, the line moved fast and I was out in about 10 mins. The staff were incredibly polite, friendly, and well informed. Proud little Canadian moment to see one of our government offices operate so effectively and efficiently, with a big dose of kindness.
Walked in on a Friday morning before the Canada Day long weekend to apply my first Canadian passport. Arrived at 10:30 am, there were two people in each of the lines: one for appointment, another one for walk-in. They would help people with appointments first, but it only took ten minutes for my turn. The lady who helped me was very friendly and even congratulated me. Then she asked me to wait to be called. Another ten minutes or so, another lady called my name and helped me with the application. It took her about 15 minutes or so. I asked her if she would recommend mailing in or coming in person. She said she would not know as it would really depend, but she guessed there would be more work for mailing in. Also, she shared that normally Friday was very busy, today was an exception because of the long weekend. Apparently, Wednesdays and Thursday are the quieter days, I hope this information will help others who want to walk in.
Walked in on April 10th around 12 p.m. and was checked in by a staff member lady with glasses, who told me the wait time would be about two hours.nnAfter waiting for nearly 2.5 hours without being called, I checked with another staff member, only to be told that there was no record of my check-in at all.nnThe only solution was to line up again so they could add me back to the waitlist, which means waiting at least another hour. This is completely unacceptable.nnI wasted over two hours due to a staff error. I had to leave because of another appointment, so my entire visit was a complete waste of time.nnVery disappointing experience. If you have to visit this office, double-check that the staff have properly checked you in—otherwise, you may end up wasting hours of waiting.
I did have to renew my biometric information lately. Actually reason was unknown as I know it should be solid for eight more years but anyway- my friends kept telling me it will take long time ,get ready for waiting forevernNothing like thatnAvailable appointment in couple daysn10 min in canada service office and all done
