I just had my first experience with Second Nature Boutique, and if you’re looking for a local, midtown consignment shoppe with professional management, beautiful visual merchandising and a seamless experience — this spot is for you. I purchased a pair of designer wellies rainboots from SNB but had never consigned. My experience as a shopper was top notch. The wellies were essentially new, priced fairly, and have lasted years, remaining a staple in my capsule wardrobe. Today I telephoned on a whim, as I’d had an organizer to my home the day prior, and impulsively decided I’d try my hand at consigning some items. Jenna, manager, was generous with her time on the phone, detailing what items were doing exceptionally well ie: sunglasses, which I hadn’t even thought of, and I felt that she did a wonderful job in managing expectations. I knew what to bring in, which was efficient for us both. Although they ordinarily don’t take appointments on Saturdays, she invited me in! I arrived at 4:30pm, with a 5pm closing time. She was caring, kind, and detailed in her review of the items, and I didn’t feel rushed at all. In the end, she selected three items of about fifteen. Her choices indicate that she is knowledgable in regenerative fashion and sustainable fashion, as she chose a highly branded top that other consignments hadn’t heard of. I’m glad I’ve set up an account and look forward to being part of the SNB community as both a purchaser and consigner. Positive experience through and through. Thanks, Jenna! From Jess.
I don't think I have faced such ridiculous, rude, and racist customer service and behaviour in the longest while. My cheque with them was delayed weeks and when we visited their Bayview Village location to pick it up, a customer was declined consignment for her items; they had already told her they will not consign those specific items and she had packed it up; as I was passing by I saw one of her items in her possession, I told her that is very cute and she said "yes but they don't want it", I told her that is unfortunate and I would love to see it; she got very excited and handed it over I told her I will take it from her if they are not accepting it; as soon as I said that the people working there and the owner jumped in very rudely and said no that's not possible; I asked them why? you declined her didn't you? they came at me with an extremely rude attitude "don't make deals here" " this is why we need an office" and as soon as they saw my interest in the item they told her ok we will take it; at least I hope they did; to be nice and polite I told them : ok let her consign it with you and I will buy it through you; the attitude did not get better it got more rude; they themselves were even conflicted one said "make the deal outside", the other came back and said "no stay here". Poor customer, me, and my sister were so confused that I decided to calmly smile say thank you and leave the store. They lost customers including myself, my sister, all my friends and family members who I had introduced to them and they made the other customer not sell her item when they didn't even want it in the first place. They also provided false price recommendation to her for her item to give me as a price which made me laugh as I am a collector and have been collecting similar items for years and know the price very well. I have never written a negative review but the attitude, rudeness, and the way they created a scene was beyond embarrassing and unacceptable not to.
This place has a mix of high end and “medium?” end clothing and accessories that are mostly gently used. I’ve purchased a couple of items that I love for great prices. The younger staff members are very nice and helpful, although there is an older woman there who is kind of off-putting. She implied that a dress I was hoping to try on would not fit me so I shouldn’t bother….so I went down the street and bought a dress from another store!
About a week ago, I visited with my Louis Vuitton bag to see if it would be possible to consign it. It's my first time every consigning, however I don't recommend consigning to Second Nature because I question the boutique and owner's knowledge of authenticated luxury bags. She questioned the authentication of my bag, giving me reasons why it was fake. I understand on one end why, as I didn't have any record of purchase it's a bag from the Louis Vuitton store in Rome, purchased in 2016, however her examples made no sense for why it was fake. I took my bag to Yorkdale Mall right after to the Louis Vuitton store, and immediately was able to speak to the individual who is responsible for repairing bags without an appointment normally you have to wait 3-5 days, I was very lucky!. Right away, he knew it was real. When I told him what I was told at Second Nature reasons for why it is not real, he smiled and said she was incorrect in her assessment. He asked me if they use someone to authenticate their bags, to which I showed him the person the owner had recommended she shared this with me. The authenticator that Second Nature uses only works through photos, and does not have actual contact with the bags. The gentleman at Louis Vuitton told me that this was a sign that Second Nature does not know how to authenticate their bags and that this is the worst way to measure the authentic nature of a bag in general. I do not recommend this place to anyone as I question whether or not the bags they sell are real.
Been to the store twice in one week; I absolutely love the collection and the staff. The ladies especially Cary, Paula and Ivette are very thoughtful and make sure they give customers a fabulous experience. Cary has especially gone above and beyond to get me outfits that would compliment me, and they were absolutely stunning! You can tell that they not only enjoy what they do, but they also care about the people that come into their lovely store. I am definitely recommending this shop to everyone I know, and will be back many more times! It is now my go-to fashion store.
I always find the ladies very honest, which is great, and helpful, I have purchased many things I don't need but I love the pieces I buy. As far as the consignment side. I forgot to ask if my items ever sold so I missed out on a few bucks. My bad.
Best place to find quality previously loved clothing. Great brands, great staff, good layout of the store. Makes it easy and motivating to buy second hand and reduce contribution to fast fashion and apparel industry waste!!
Best "gently used' clothing shop in Toronto. There is a second location in Bayview Village which I have not been to yet, but this location has high-end Gucci/Prada items at greatly reduced prices, as well as upscale items at very reasonable prices. In their basement, they have items with prices that have been reduced even further. I always leave with something. Last BUT not least - the staff are amazing.
I am one of their oldest clients and I am proud to say so. I have both sold and bought from Second Nature boutique for the past 25 years. The merchandise is top notch and the customer service is excellent! The store is beautiful and the merchandise “artfully" organized; unlike some second hand stores where the merchandise is “crammed in” and you can’t really see the merchandise. I highly recommend you stop and shop at this “little gem”.
I find the staff always a pleasure to see when I am at Second Nature. They are warm friendly and I always leave laughing and enjoying my shopping experience. The owner always seems to know how to put the right outfits together. If I am looking for something I will call or visit the store. The store manager is always happy to help me. I have often commented on the beautiful displays in the boutique. I leave always inspired to try new looks and create different designs in my own wardrobe.
