Sechelt Your Independent Grocer

What a joke! I haven't seen cost cutting quite like this before... Seriously there's toilet paper more rugged than the paper used in the paper bags provided by the Independent. Even though I held the bags from the bottom the entire time between the store, my car and my home, the bags completely tore and half of my items had fallen out by the time I made it into the kitchen. I kid you not, the paper tore just by looking at it.

When Idependent first took over this store the prices immediately went up - a lot. My biggest complaint is that they don’t take into account that the population here is largely made up of single, low income, and senior people. With their 2 for $ items we pay so much more if we can only buy one of the item. That is so unfair. I never buy those things. At IGA you can buy one and be charged one half of the 2 for $ price. I shop at Independent only if I see a good sale price on an item, and that’s not very often.

Step down from the superstore, convince in our small town good location, plenty of p parking easy to get in and out.Fruit and vegetables aren't always good quality,they offer good meat department.nNot best breeds.

I left town for two months and the prices DOUBLED at this location. $7 for a head of cauliflour not organic or anything, $10 was the cheapest lb of beef, skewers were $35/kg $4/100 gr of sliced turkey, and I could go on and on…it’s quite possible they are now the worst price gauges on the entire coast, and that’s saying a lot considering how outrageous groceries here are. The fact that it’s cheaper in Powell river with an added ferry should say everything

Any thoughts about these shoppers? Today January 27th, 2024, we went to the Independent store Sechelt to buy PC baby wipes. The promotion sign said 6,000 pts for $12.99, but the manager clarified it's only for the 1200 wipes, not the 600 wipes displayed beside it. It's confusing and misleading. See picture below. Let me know how you understand it. Despite bringing it up at customer service, the manager didn't acknowledge the mistake. Disappointed with the lack of customer service. Never buying from this store again. Lots of unhappy customers already complained about their wrong prices.
