Sechelt Your Independent Grocer

Their bakery is better than any Real Canadian Superstore or Safeway store I have ever been to. Fresh, tastier and good priced. We tried it for one breakfast then coming back home to Vancouver bought 5 packs of different things.

I had a wonderful interaction with an employee at self-checkout/ customer service on Friday. She had a long braid in her hair, and essentially she spotted me $3 that I was short on from the time I drove home to grab that cash. She saw me outside and told me to just pay it forward, and it was just such a lovely human experience, and it was from the goodness of her heart and I just had tow rite a review because it meant so much. She is an amazing employee and clearly a great human. Much love.

What a joke! I haven't seen cost cutting quite like this before... Seriously there's toilet paper more rugged than the paper used in the paper bags provided by the Independent. Even though I held the bags from the bottom the entire time between the store, my car and my home, the bags completely tore and half of my items had fallen out by the time I made it into the kitchen. I kid you not, the paper tore just by looking at it.

Any thoughts about these shoppers? Today January 27th, 2024, we went to the Independent store Sechelt to buy PC baby wipes. The promotion sign said 6,000 pts for $12.99, but the manager clarified it's only for the 1200 wipes, not the 600 wipes displayed beside it. It's confusing and misleading. See picture below. Let me know how you understand it. Despite bringing it up at customer service, the manager didn't acknowledge the mistake. Disappointed with the lack of customer service. Never buying from this store again. Lots of unhappy customers already complained about their wrong prices.

When Idependent first took over this store the prices immediately went up - a lot. My biggest complaint is that they don’t take into account that the population here is largely made up of single, low income, and senior people. With their 2 for $ items we pay so much more if we can only buy one of the item. That is so unfair. I never buy those things. At IGA you can buy one and be charged one half of the 2 for $ price. I shop at Independent only if I see a good sale price on an item, and that’s not very often.
