I have been a patient at the dental center for over 20 years. I find everyone there great and I have always had a positive experience.

Years ago I treated myself to a pair of crowns to straighten my uneven front two teeth by taking out a line of credit for $3000. Less than a year after I received them, the mouthguard I wear religiously went mysteriously missing and I had to be molded for a new one. The Sechelt Dental Centre would not allow me to take ownership of the replacement mouthguard until paid in full and they would not allow me to make payments. They made no effort to assist me in a bad situation. A couple months later I had moved to Vancouver Island and once I had saved up enough money; I paid for the guard in full only to find out when it was shipped to me they had sent me a lower one which caused cracks to my two new front crowns. The few months I was saving up for the mouthguard probably played a part in the hairline cracks on my new $3000 teeth too. When I called concerned about the cracks I could see in the teeth, I was told "You should have been wearing your mouthguard" despite them knowing the whole story - even after I explained again. A few days later one of the crowns fell apart in my mouth when I bit into my food and I was left without a front tooth. I was hysterical as I worked in customer service and could not go to work with a missing tooth - only a grounded down fang! I worried about the other tooth breaking as well. I called Sechelt Dental Centre again and they shut me down for the last time. "There is nothing we can do" I was told. I was a single mother of a toddler at the time, full time student, and full time server with no one to turn to for financial assistance as I was struggling to pay my bills. It still appalls me to this day that this business in the small town I grew up in gave me no sympathy whatsoever and completely shrugged me off. I was so upset and in tears and they could not have cared less. Completely and utterly heartless, not to mention an extremely poor work ethic. The silver lining is that when I flipped open the Victoria phone book and called Saanich Dental Group (because they were the only dental office who provided emergency services), I was blown away by their compassion and assistance in my situation. Never having met me before, Saanich Dental Group not only paid for my temporary crowns (removing the cracked other front crown), but also paid for the crown that broke ALL out of their own pockets. When I was approved for a student loan, they insisted I only pay for the one crown and honored their offer despite me having some extra funds. They said I should have reported Sechelt Dental Centre to the BBB and I wish I had, but I wanted only to move on from the horrible experience. Shame on you Sechelt Dental Centre. I hope no one ever has to deal with what I did. Thankfully there are businesses out there that belief in standing by their work and treating their clientele with respect.
