Sault Area Hospital

Yesterday my elderly parents were brought in by ambulance together after a car accident leaving the funeral of their nephew. The hospital put them in stints, neck braces and wheelchairs and sat them in the fast track for 4 hours. When finally called in, I explained the day we had to a Nurse named Melissa. I asked her to help me get my parents home as soon as possible. She came back less than 2 minutes later, and said the doctor would be right in. They were xrayed, casts applied, given emotional support and we were out in less than 30min after speaking with our Nurse, Melissa. She was an absolute angel . Thank you.

My girlfriend buggered up her wrist in a minor snowmobile accident with a possibly concussion. I brought her to the hospital at 3:00pm. The nurses put her through fast track to get X-rays and ect. “Wahoo” so I thought. Now it’s 8pm. Sault Area Hospital claims to Follow our promises to patients. A list of requirements posted in every waiting room and patient’s room while being under the Hospitals care and supervision. One of the important requirements is to “Check on patients hourly to assess your comfort and safety” while in assessment room waiting for the doctor. This hospital does not stick to their guidelines nor does anyone in town of Sault Ste. Marie ON. feel this hospital is up to par in regards of expectations. What would this hospital do in a natural disaster? Make people wait to be cared for? We came here in the “slow hours”. Not a single R.N, R.P.N or Doctor has checked on her for 5 hours and she’s panicking in the room while I wait in a separate waiting room. Great hospital. Wawa Ontario hospital is literally faster than this gongshow.

I was at our camp and fractured my pelvis and saw Dr. D Costain in the fracture clinic at the hospital. I want to say, between the volunteers, the admin staff, the nurses and the technicians that took my X-rays and the cat scan, I was very impressed with the care I received. I only wished I could have had my surgery there but Dr. Costain found a fantastic orthopedic surgeon in Welland Ontario for me. You all deserve 5 stars . Thank you.

This place is horrible.. Waited 12 hours bleeding into my work boot to find out they have no doctors. The bleeding stopped and I went home and dressed my own wound. Now I'm out a days work a pair of boots and parking fees for nothing. This place needs restructuring from top to bottom. I don't recommend going here unless you absolutely have to and even then it would of been quicker going to a different towns hospital.

I am posting mainly for my 14 week PREGNANT girlfriend. Quite ridiculous how long you have to wait to see someone at this hospital. Been here since 4 am still haven’t been seen. My gf has serious nausea with this pregnancyfirst baby and no nurses or doctors have came and seen her to give her something to help. Absolutely ridiculous.

This dr doesnt care about his clients. He doesnt follow up with clients. Cousin who's schizophrenic and cant get meds on a regular so stopped taking them. Has a history of threatening to kill family. Family has been trying to get ahold of his dr. This dr. And nothing. If anything happens this dr will be to blame for sure

And this is what it looks like when an 8 year old comes into emergency after running a fever of 42.8 for 2 days. From a different province. No family doc in town. sitting in the wait room for 6 hours now. Hasn't slept more than 2 hours in the last 48 hours.

Would give it zero stars if possible. Been here in the waiting room for 7 hours and still haven't seen a anyone. No one has gone in or out expect for nurses and security for about 2 hours. Been talking to other people waiting and they have been here for 12+ hours and haven't seen anyone. Website says 4.5 hour wait and when I ask the nurses they say that they cant say cause it depends on the people being seen. I've seen people here with broken bones and bleeding and they aren't even being seen. Horrible, horrible hospital. They are also the only hospital that does a "quiet time" in the ER where they don't have computers running or do tests or anything. Like wow...just wow

What awful experience. Was told my wait will be longer than a flight to England and they were telling the truth. Painfully terrible experience. I’ve seen people who waited hours just get up and leave without seeing anyone. Broken system here

I give this hospital an A plus I spent today at the Cath lab getting some stints put in and was treated very well, couldn't ask for better. Dr Graham and all of the nurses were wonderful. A special thank you to Dr Graham, Jennifer and Rocky.
