This place was a lovely little hidden gem. I had some friends visiting from out of town and we picked a random place to eat. On the outside it is not much to be desired but once you enter you see a heart warming, hard working and delicious smelling restaurant. Food is cheap and very big portions. Food taste was good not blow you out of the water good but filling and fitting for the restaurant. Highly recommend for cheap food :
My cravings were satisfied and I’m glad I can go there any time. If you’re ever looking for a quick all day breakfast, check out Sammy’s. It's sure to satisfy the hungries at whatever hour of the day you happen to wander in.Recommended dishesBacon and Eggs Any Style with Homefries and Toast, All Day Breakfast
Very impressed with the service of Sammy’s Family Restaurant. Got our food within 10 minutes of getting to the place. Never been here before, but would definitely go back for breakfast! I was surprised to see how busy the place was, I guess it just shows how great the restaurant is!
I stumbled upon this little restaurant totally by accident but I'll definitely be back. I was curious when I saw liver and onions as one of their specials. Anyone who loves this dish knows how hard it is to find a place that knows how to make this well. Although I like mine slightly breaded this place doesn't. I still thought it was quite tasty. I was actually quite surprised at how many people ordered it while we were there. Great price and good food. I totally recommend!
Friendly staff. Relatively low prices, however not so great food... Bacon tasted old, chicken too cold... Coffee was great though.
The waitress was amazing. The service was fast. The soup of the day was great, the garlic bread was good. The vegetables were bland, the 6 oz steak seemed so small and thin, and was bland too. They only thing great in that plate was the fries. It was fries that was very soft and big like how fries used to be at restaurants 20 years ago. If I come back I will avoid the steak and try something different. I am curious to try their breakfast one of these days.
January 2023 update: In spite of a recent accident that saw a car plow into the front window of the restaurant, it’s business as usual. Our party enjoyed Fish and Chips, and Hot Hamburger with fries as well as with Mashed Potato. And also, fine service. Truly a family restaurant. we don’t live in Scarborough but this is the spot we choose to have lunch at when we visit . Great family restaurant. Haven’t been for a couple of years, and our first inside-dining in a long while. Premises and washrooms clean, and our server was pleasant and prompt. Nice to have a clubhouse again, and my wife enjoyed her moussaka and Greek salad.
Ordered "garlic bread with cheese", "Grand slam feast" and "eggs Benedict". Disappointed with the food. They burnt the garlic bread with cheese, the home *fries* were barely fried, and yet also dry. The bread that came with the grand slam was cold and less than 50% buttered. The over-easy eggs were actually sunny side up. The only thing they got right was the eggs Benedict. I would recommend the eggs Benedict, but nothing else
Food's good, portions are good-sized, service ain't bad for a packed house, staff are professional. Down home breakfast with no B.S. Worth the drive clear across the city for us.
Pleasantly surprised. This place is a little gem. We went on Sat late morning. First of all the coffee is excellent. The breakfast was delicious. Between the both of us we tried all of their breakfast meat sausage, bacon, peameal bacon and ham cooked perfect and nice size portions. We will definitely be coming back here.
