We were just near the dog park one evening when we tumble upon this small little Jamaican Food Place. It is definitely a hidden gem that we will surely come back for take out. The food was amazingly delicious! We ordered the goat curry which tasted so so so yummy! The oxtail was good but could taste even better with a little more flavor. The jerk chicken was nice and juicy, perfectly grilled and not burnt. The staff was helpful and friendly. There are just 2 or 3 tables indoor and I believe there might be a few more tables at the patio. So, dine in is probably better during summer or if you want a quick bite. I'll be sure to come back when I crave for Jamaican food. We enjoyed the food so much that we forgot to take pictures before eating so the pictures are of the left over.. Parking: The parking is small, but should be sufficient during dinner time when the other offices are closed for the day.
It's been 2 years since I ate from Food Kulture. This past weekend I ordered some food and my stomach was full and I was satisfied. Long time ago I would walk in and get ackee and callaloo with boil dumplin but I did Uber eats and got ackee and saltfish with boil dumplin and mi swear seh mi did a guh bawl eye wata lol haha... Still tastes the same. It's fresh and it's delicious. Nuff respect to Food Kulture. - Leon aka Judah
Got the oxtail meal with rice and peas along with coleslaw. Also got a side order of jerk chicken. All the food was fresh and flavours were perfect. I recommend getting their hot sauce on the side it’s a perfect compliment. Quickly becoming my goto jerk spot in Scarborough.
I'm not sure if anyone else does this, but when I travel away, I enjoy experiencing different foods than I can get back home. We had been in Toronto for a week, and unlike our last journey into Canada, there are so many options for food that it is mind boggling to choose something. So here we are, on our last night, and I decided I wanted to have some Jerk Chicken, and then added on some Brown Chicken Stew, which didn't sound that great, but I needed a nonspicey option for the rest of the fam. Like a lot of cultural food in the area, this is not fast food thank you Jesus, and you need to allow time to wait for some items. The Brown Chicken Stew had a wonderful flavor that was just...comforting, and the Jerk Chicken gave your taste buds a kick. As an impulse buy I purchased a couple small "meat pies" I think that is what they were called. What a great extra purchase! Super flaky, great flavor! Both chicken dishes were very juicy, and the fact that I am spending a couple moments on my last night of vacation to write my first food review of the trip is a testimony to how much I think it is worth going a little off the beaten path of 5-food-shops-in-every-strip-mall to check this place out. I can't pretend I'm an expert in Caribbean foods, but the flavor and juicy meats here stood out on this trip, though I must say I have met with some awesome food workers this last week, Food Culture included.
I went their bought ackee and saltfish with provisions it was bare ackee no saltfish I am disappointed
My friend was going on and on about the food at Kulture so I got a chance to try it out as I entered the smell was very appealing. I ordered an oxtail and and the soup of the day which was red peas I truly enjoyed every bite I will be definitely be back Oops forget about the friendly welcome we received from Germaine.
Great oxtail. Nice and soft, red peas soup is nice.
Food took over 20 minutes to be brought out... whole time you can hear a microwave going off... I tried asking for refund and was told the food is ready...in a haste I left without looking, got to my car and I was correct, Sunday-Monday food, both the jerk and curry chicken w rice and peas were microwaved... dry, cold, little flavor... rice was mushy. If you like being over charged for microwave meals that's the only way I could recommend! I get it times are tough, people have to be cheap with product but there was NO excuse for that... all the plantain seemed day old or from the morning.
i ordered a goat curry, oxtail, and jerk chicken with rice its my first time ordering here it was given a 8.4 rating so i thought heck why not try it out first off i asked for extra pepper sauce i was given two containers of one teaspoon of pepper sauce the oxtail smelled exactly like red peas soup it did not look appealing what so ever and didnt taste well either the goat curry was pretty salty and the jerk chicken was very dry. it will for sure be my last time ordering from them.
Jerk chicken was delicious and tender. Portions were good. Highly recommend!
