It's just sad how disrespectful and rude the staff crew and the superintendent Julie are in this cemetery. Zero respect and empathy for other cultures. We were treated like a joke and inhumane here because we were not catholic. The superintendent Julie, deep inside her she's unable to accept other cultures or religions. You'll have a hard time dealing with her unless you're a catholic. The staff crew laughed very loud while we cried and said our last goodbye. Completely disgusting and disrespectful. They deleted all their Facebook reviews.
I do not recommend this cemetery to anyone other than if you are white and/or is a catholic. Julie, the superintendent was not friendly upfront during our first approach. We were rushed during our first appointment where we went over our desired grave spaces. She is a difficult person to converse with and her attitude does not align with the professionalism of a superintendent. She is culturally ignorant, any questions we had, she would answer them plain and mad no. I spoke to other families and they experienced similar. If your family encounters the same, please contact me. During our father’s burial, as we were performing a bowing ritual the employees laughed at us. My aunt and uncle were denied access to the bathroom in the office. Two of my cousins were also denied until our Godfather who is a white man came and asked. They proceeded to let them use the bathroom, later Julie told them to tell the others because they have a “small” septic tank. If this isn’t racism and hatred, I don’t know what is. If my Godfather was not present with my cousins, will they get the same treatment? Absolutely disgusting and unacceptable. Update: The Saint Mary’s cemetery of Winona has removed their Facebook reviews. Now, you can no longer see all the reviews. The rating was around 1.7 to 1.9 for context. This just further proves the validity of all the reviews.
Zero star. I was trying to help my relative look for a grave location for their elders. I wish our experience was different. The staffs were not friendly nor welcoming at all, especially the older woman in the office. To anyone reading this, please read all the reviews before you commit to buying a space in this cemetery. This is the last thing someone who mourns a loss should have to endure during such a difficult time.
Thanks Julie for fulfilling my uncle's final resting place in a serene, peaceful, and clean place. When we first met, you gave us the guidelines and expectations up front so we knew what we were getting and what other patrons also valued. You marked the exact plot my uncle wished to have and he was picky about the Feng Shui view he wanted. During burial, you did not leave a huge pile of dirt next to the plot opening that would normally be an eye-soar while we perform our prayers and say our goodbyes. Your tractor had chains that were not metal as to not disturb the other graves nearby and we know that my uncle's site would not be ruined or scraped in the future with nearby burials. The grass were green and well maintained. The tent you provided shield us from the sun and heat while we mourn and complete our farewell messages. Our family appreciated you getting back to us in a timely manner from start to finish with multiple showings. And finally, thanks for being at the burial to supervise your staff to make sure we had a meaningful final rights. Your staff took out sticks and whatever else we asked before the final covering and waited patiently for us to give you the completion signal. We will eagerly await to contact you when there is a family need again. Dr. Andy Xiong.
I would like to rate 0 star, but it does not have that option. The manager is a Karen and disrespectful to other cultures. I always think catholics are the best religion with all the respect and non-discrimination. I was wrong in the past 30 years of my life. The true color has been reviewed in my face. SAINT MARRY CEMETERY IN WINONA, MN NEEDS TO FIRE JULIE BECAUSE I DONT WANT HER TO DESTROY THEIR BEAUTIFUL RELIGION. THANK YOU FOR NOTHING JULIE. YOU AND YOUR STAFFS WERE LAUGHING WHEN A FAMILY HAD THE SADEST DAY OF THEIR LIFE. WHAT KIND OF HUMAN BEINGS ARE YOU GUYS?
This is probably one of the most heartbreaking and ridiculous thing that I could have ever experienced while burying my grandpa here at this cemetery. The supervisor Julie called the cops on us just because we were doing our cultural traditions for my grandpa. Please do not go here if you don't want to experience this racist non accepting of other culture. She also forced us to stay in our cars to watch our grandpa get buried. This KARENJULIE has no heart and sympathy for families who are grieving. Shame on her.
The environment is amazing nor the staffs especially the superintendent. She is a karen, and her attitude is horrible toward to other races none white. This cemetery is for catholics only. Other religions, I suggest to find other cemeteries.
One of my worst days in life to lose a love one but also to be denied and disrespected in many ways on the day where you are mourning your loved one is truly nonhuman. I did pray for those employees working that day 7/25/2022 that God will forgive them and help guide them to a path where they will see the lord created all humans equally.
Julie and the rest of the staff were great to work with. They were very respectful, we had a beautiful ceremony for my father.
The people that work there were laughing while we preformed some Hmong rituals. Forced us to stay in a bus to watch the burial.
