Safeway Downtown Chilliwack

Great selection in the "fast food" section and the store is clean and well organized. Since being bought out by Sobeys the prices have improved dramatically. While still not as low as I would like them to be, the improvement is dramatic and is now my number 2 go to store for quick shops.

Had some great sales on when I was there, and although I was just visiting, I found everything easily. I bought a loaf of fresh baked cheese bread and have to say, it is the best tasting and had plenty of cheese throughout the whole loaf!! My cashier was really friendly and told me a joke that had me smiling and giggling all the way to my best friends place. I'll be stopping in whenever I come to town for the weekend. Thanks Safeway!! This is a really good Safeway the store is really clean the staff are great.but I want to tell you a little story that happened in this store. I was standing in line behind an elderly woman who had just finished having her items run through the till and was trying to pay with her debit card but it wasn't working and she seemed confused and upset that it wasn't. The store cashier was being nice and trying to help her with it still it wasn't working. Then a very well dressed lady in her early fifties standing behind me reached forward with a credit card and quietly said just put on my card . The cashier said you know it's over $70.00 the woman replied its doesn't matter just put on the card which he did. The elderly lady said thank you so much and can I know your name so I can pay you back the woman just smiled and said no mercy Christmas. This small act of true kindness made my day.

Love the lower prices and the variety of convenience items. The meat department is very well stocked and the staff are helpful and friendly. Justin from the meat department is very helpful and is great at recommending which meat would be best for my family's needs.

Love this Safeway. Staff is great, and you get the quality Safeway products & service that has always been their long-standing reputation the only difference now is they've brought their prices to a reasonable level and at par with the other Supermarket Giants out there. And when they have a deal boy oh boy do they have a deal. I often find myself rushing down to Safeway to stock up on something because the price is so unbelievable I can't pass it up. If you I one of those people like I used to be that didn't go to Safeway because they're too expensive, do yourself a favor and go check them out again you'll see It'll become your new favorite go to store.

Store is clean like you would expect from Safeway. Ive never had an issue here. They have a security guard on premises so it's quiet and safe however you can expect there to see 'interesting' people loitering outside at seemingly all hours of the day and night.

Be aware of the panhalnders and everyday alcoholics that are wondering around. They are not dangerous but only annoying. As far as shopping carts, I would use only carry on! Staff is great and super friendly, prices are ok compare to the other merchants around downtown. Great bakery, soups and sandwiches! Starbucks inside is an asset!

Good store. As with most Safeways they have the best bakery out of all the grocery chains. Always lots of staff on the tills do you don't have to wait long.

Rude cashier to the point of making my wife cry. Brought details up to Store manager who was at best apathetic and asked that I not complain to corporate. I agreed assuming that something would be done but there was never any follow up. Wouldn't go back to kick the ashes if the place burned down.

There is no cheese that can beat Safeway's Cheddar cheese... 'Nuff said. Just kidding. I appreciate that their receipts have local coupons on them. Smart way to both reduce waste and promote local businesses; I think more places should do the same. And I'm definitely all for businesses being environmentally friendly and innovative in their design even if it's in subtle ways. Only critique is that it closes at 10pm and I always miss shopping there on my way home from university and I have to go to Walmart or superstore instead, which inconveniently is far away from where I live and there are closer stores I would prefer not to do all of my grocery shopping at.
