"From the dawn of history man has used wood to grill food.Even after discovering other fuels, like petroleum, electricity, and briquettes, we have not been able to produce the exquisite taste that wood brings to our food. Here at safari, we cook all of our meats the old fashion way.We only use 100% natural hardwood for real grilled wood flavour"

We ordered the chicken, the beef, the fish, and the spicy rice for take out. Well... Turns out that we didn't get the beef. We realized that after we got home and took out everything. We tried calling the restaurant but it seems like they blocked our number or something because everytime it goes straight to voicemail. That is $25 that we will never get back again. It is really disappointing considering that I was really looking forward to trying the beef. The chicken is really dry, and it tastes kind of bland. Costco chicken tastes juicier than this. The fries were really soggy. But it is what it is, can't expect much from frozen fries. The fish I cannot comment. I don't eat fish. However, my girlfriend said that it was ok. The rice is really bland. We expected some spicy rice. What we got is dry and bland rice. Overall, the food is passable, 3 stars at best. The lack of customer service is rather concerning though. I can't believe that a business would just send customer calls straight to voicemail. Therefore, I deducted a star. I don't know why people were giving this 5 stars. Either they bought reviews or found people with no standards. There are better charcoal grills. I would suggest that you take your business elsewhere.
We had never tried African food and thought we would try gisafuriya. What an awesome flavourful stew, with just the perfect amount of spice. We ordered the small portion and have enough to feed two people another meal or two. The girls were so patient with us describing the dishes we inquired about and very accommodating. We are just passing through Ottawa, but if we lived near by this would be a regular stop for us. Thank you
Nice selection of grilled meat and combo options. Hot sauce also available. A feel of some Eastern African vibes. It's worth the visit. Location is almost opposite Holiday Inn Hotel on King Edward Avenue Parking: Free Parking
Food was excellent, just what I needed when im searching for African food. 6/5 stars in fact because the food came out on time and the price was reasonable. The location was wack so I immediately knew the food was gonna bang. Ya’dunno!!
The food is great. I had fried plantains and Chicken. Absolutely tastes African and home made. I loved it! The lady was a tad rude to my wife though, but it's okay. The food makes up for it.
The chicken was really flavoured and juicy. The rice was perfect and was the perfect spice level. I have never had real African food so i tried this place and it was amazing. 10/10 I would recommend.
The staff was lovely; however expensive for what you get. Meal was over $65 for two. We had beef brochette and tongue brochette which does not come with sides. So a side of rice and plantains. You only get one skewer of beef brochette and tongue brochette; which is quite expensive as it $20 ea skewer, there is only 4 cube of meat on the skewer ea. Rice is small bowl if that at $10.75 and same with the plantains that is 8 thin sliced. The meat was chewy and not tender nor does it melt in your mouth as some has reviewed it but tasty.
Honestly I’m very disappointed by this place, the food my boyfriend and I ordered was so little and we paid much, even the packaging was bad, they just gave a very small bottle of rice while they knew we are two and the meat was cold!!! I was referred by a friend and she hyped this place so much but am just disappointed and wouldn’t recommend this!!! I was so excited about trying and now am shocked. And bad customer service on the phone also
The food tastes okay. But $19.50 before tax for a single beef brochette with NO side is overly priced.
I went there for the first time on a whim this week, and had no idea what to expect. A quick check of the menu before arriving made me pick the beef tongue skewer and a whole chicken to take home. So far this has fed two adults for 4 meals and counting. The beef tongue is an acquired taste, and I really loved it. The chicken was well broiled and juicy, nice spicing, nothing scary. The side sauces however; beware of the red sauce. It's Very Strong. The young lady who took my order was nice and welcoming. I want to go back and try other dishes, that is part of discovering new horizons.
