April 2022 3 Based on the reviews, thought I'd give this a try. Overall, it's ok. The place is reminiscent of a fast food counter but feels oily inside. The heated foods that are behind the counter looks a bit untouched. Though there were a few people who did come by and purchased some of it. Plain Dosa $6.99 This was decent. Priced ok. Though online, I think it was listed at $5.99, so it was definitely not updated. Came with 2 sauces/chutney, was ok. They make their own Dosa batter for sale that you can buy. Wings 65 $12.99 1lb This was a battered, deep fried tandoori chicken. I saw the staff pick out the chicken with their hands out of the feel fryer, seemed unsanitary. The chicken itself was ok. Nothing to brag about. Plain Appam $1.25 Was slightly sweet, ok. Butter chicken Kothu $11.99 This was ok as well. Couldn't tell if there were any Chicken. Fried Mutton Briyani $12.99 Probably the star of the entire meal. Nice, spicy and full of flavors from the spices. Decent portions of Mutton as well.
I tried their food for the first time. It felt like a fast food store and their prices were affordable. I got roti, curry and butter chicken kothu. I asked for puttu but they didn't have. I liked the butter chicken kothu. It was tasty and also their roti and curry. They also have fried mutton briyani, appam, dosa and chicken wings. Thank you for your service.
This is a good takeout restaurant and good customer service. Could be a little cleaner, would have a better appeal to the restaurant. Ordered the egg appam and Mutton khottu roti. Both dishes were good and freshly made.
They didn’t have much selections put outside. The rolls were pretty hollow and dry. It’s probably because it was near end of day. The Appam was made fresh and has poor taste. Will try again another time.
Food is very decent, appam was really good. I find this place little pricey compared to other food restaurants, $6.65 for 25 string hoppers was almost double compared to other stores. But there milk sothi with the idiyappam is really good, got roast bread a few times and it was bit dry
A small nice place with amazing food. Very economical prices. Tried out their appams, andhra fish fry which was a special on the day we visited, chicken biryani and masala tea. Egg appam and chicken appam was quite good. But the best one is the milk appam. Absolutely loved it! A must try! It has the right amount of sweetness and is outrightly yummy. Andhra fish fry and chicken biryani were good too. Chicken biryani was a bit spicy for me and it's not a dum style biryanistill yummy though!
When it comes to defining a restaurant as a 'hole-in-the-wall', this place is exactly that. As a matter of fact, it has become my first stop on my way to Toronto for one particular rare find that goes by many names - Appam to the south Indians, Hopper to the Sri Lankans, and some people even refer to them as idiyappams. For a food with so many names, they are such a rare find because they have to be eaten as soon as they are made. It's a bowl shaped carb that is spongy in the center and crispy on the sides and is generally made with fermented rice batter. Ruchi takeout definitely has the best - they are so good that even though it is a takeout restaurant, the owner knows that I stand and eat them inside so he doesn't even close the curry containers. The Hopper goes excellently with either the chicken curry, mutton curry or tomato curry! There are three kinds of hoppers here - the plain hopper, the milk hopper where a touch of coconut milk is added for sweetness and texture and lastly the egg hopper where a whole egg is cracked into the center. All delicious but I usually get one plain hopper and two milk hoppers. At the end of my quick meal, I generally get a madrass coffee to go with a laddoo a sweet ball-shaped dessert that is made with either gram flour, black sesame, or semolina flour. Go get your hopper on! Vegetarian options: Its south indian and sri lankan food so there are tons of vegetarian options. Kid-friendliness: They are really nice to kids! Parking: Lots of parking in the plaza
Best South Indian takeout restaurant in Scarborough. Not a hit or miss. Absolutely promising food with authentic Indian Aroma.
Very good service, great portion sizes, not stingy with the chicken in their biryani. Will be back within this week!
Very affordable place and very delicious Indian food. Must try ”beef dishes” and Dosas with amazing chutney and sambar.
